I have an Inspiron 6000D and I love it. Have you upgraded to the latest BIOS (A05 I believe) On my system it changed the behavior of the fan in the system. Look up I8KFanGui in Google and D/L the program and patch for the I6000. It will allow you to set the temp at which the fan kicks on and off. It...

Power Supply related to Hard Drive Noise...?
I recently had a Nexus 4090 power supply die on me and I have a temporaryily replaced it with a Thermaltake 600W unit that was in my closet. I have 2 Seagate 120GB SATA HDD's in the case and they have always 'rumbled' loudly when the drives were used. They also used to rumble every 30 seconds or so ...

You don't have to format the drive but you do need to FDSIK it to create partition(s) first. I'm afraid this is not true. Cheers, Jan Actually it is true. All I ever do is create partitions and then install Windows XP. During the install Windows will ask if you want to format the partition and do i...

My Nexus 4090 just died :x
Well, after just 7 months of service my Nexus 4090 power supply just died. The second 12 volt rail gave out. I just turned the PC off, and when I turned it back on... Nothing but fans... I tried stripping the system down to bare essentials but still no go. I swapped in a Thermaltake 560W PSU I...

I moved my system from my BQE to the new B case this weekend. I had pretty much destroyed the BQE in my attempts at silencing (my first attempt). So far the only 'problem' I have found is that the hard drives make more noise in the B case than in the BQE. I don't have them suspended, just installed ...

Decibel-Free: The VoodooPC Rage F-50
The latest Voodoo PC, though, is something special. Voodoo has taken the $1,200 Zalman TNN 500A chassis and built a high performance PC into it. Given the premium case components, the Voodoo Rage F-50 isn't cheap, at roughly $5,300. But for that money you get a PC that offers little or no compromis...

Here is a link to Intel's website for the Bonanza motherboard. All of the connectors are explained:
http://developer.intel.com/design/mothe ... bz_con.htm
Essentially the VReg (Voltage Regulator) connector is to monitor the fan speed of your PSU if it provides the proper connection for it.

If you can find some, Kapton tape, which is used in circuit board reworking, would hold it in place. Kapton tape is very thin, will not melt at temps up to 500F degrees, (depending upon type of Kapton tape) and will not conduct electricity.
Here is one place to find it:

Nexus Prolong
Aside from the provocative name, has anyone tried these devices? Are they really safe to connect to the fan headers on the motherboard? Does this extra 5 minutes of fan time really make that big a difference?

Nebor, The Intel 875 BIOS allows you to OC the board up to 4% over the CPU speed. They call it 'Burn In Mode'. You can set it permanently in the BIOS or, if you run the Intel Control Center, temporarily while in Windows. If you look at this pic, you will see that the ICC shows the OC state. http://i...
