Apple's OSX is extremely memory hungry. With 256m it won't feel snappy at all. 512mb is an option with the mini, as is 1gb. The last option is so hidous expensive that 512mb is as much memory any sane person would put in it. 512mb is ok-ish for OSX, but it won't fly. And the little fan is indeed fai...

The following board seems to be quite nice, MSI K8N Neo Platinum, a test can be found here: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=2036&p=1 Asus seem to be making not much mobo's for AMD64 (yet?), alot of shops seem to only stock the ASUS K8V Deluxe, test: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art...

mmorpg gaming machine.

With Everquest II and World of Warcraft on the horizon the old online rpg bug got me. As a otherwise happy Apple user i will only play games on this machine, so spending too much is out of the question. I've got two items in this house which are 'known' dB-wise: - my iMac which is around 30dB (depen...

stock fan x800 pro [loud/not loud]?

After reading too many reviews for this card and no reviewer saying something usefull about noiselvl's here it comes: How loud is the stockfan on a 'generic' X800 pro? Seeing that a X800 doesn't draw much more power than a ati 9800 ( http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=14668 ) and seein...

ting - your reply helped :D Good to see the zalman 7000 is not only good coolingwise but also 'do-able' installationwise.

Ralph - thanks! I just might go for a zalman 7000 on a s478

best socket/cpu for mounting heatsink

I'm sure this topic has come up before. It's just that i cannot find it

What is the best socket/cpu combo for an easy install of the heatsink? The socket A athlons seem very fragile, also the mobo's for socket A cpu's seem less 'heatsink friendly' than the intel socket 478.
