The "boiling smoke" from dry ice is made by putting dry ice in water. It is water vapor so I don't think this is a good idea. It's not water vapor. The frozen CO2 is catalysed to chang state into gas (no liquid involved)....I think it's called sublimation if i remember chemistry so long ago. anyway...

Apparently it does move the air by charging it (who wuddah known?): 8. How do the Ionic Breeze GP and Quadra move air without a motor or fan? A regular fan works by rotating and physically pushing air with its blades. In a typical HEPA air filter, a noisy motor will power a rotating fan that makes n...

well, these won't move any air (what I figure). You can only move charged particles, i.e. the dust. You still need a fan to get air inot the case, but wrap a netowrk of ionized wires around your fan grill and it'll repel all the dust (not the dirt, tiny rocks, stuff....it doesn't ionize unfortunately)

hmm....maybe instead of ionic-breeze wannabie, how about reversing the polarity on the anodes to repel charged dust? Creating a sort of forcefeild for dust around all fan intakes. I don't think the ionic breeze uses alot of power. Certainly not enough to shock you. I have one and I can touch all the...

Measure carefully before cutting out the 120mm hole in the back I'm actually thinking of using a hole-cutting drillbit. http://www.mytoolstore.com/ideal/iconcutt.jpg But I'm definately going to measure crefully on the screw holes. I'm pretty sure thiswould work better than a dremel or router. Defin...

120 or 92mm (IYO)
120mm or 92mm advice. I'm getting a Kingwin aluminum case that comes with 3 80mm fans (2 in front and one in back). I looked at alot of picutres and figured there would be enough room to drill a 92mm hole or a slightly square 120mm hole where the 80mm is. http://images10.newegg.com/productimage/11-1...

I'll be moving my computer around at least once a month to LANs, so the bungie idea may work against me. However: http://lib1.store.vip.sc5.yahoo.com/lib/xoxide/hddsilencer2.jpg will this work? It still decouples the HD from what I'm seeing. Nothing at first. Design/build a system that uses quiet co...

those melanine foam tiles seem ok. But I'd prefer to lay down something for more vibration reducing than for sound absorption. As you can see, I designed this case to be quiet at the components, the only thing I need worry about are the stock casefans (which might be replaced later, depending on ann...

In all the benchmarks I saw on google searches, the nVidia core doesn't perform all that well. Like you said, hopefully a BIOS update will fix that. I usually don't od too much OCing but I plan to try to get the 3000+ to around 2.1- 2.15GHz. If I can find the K8V Deluxe on newegg before I buy, I'll ...

Are you still planning on getting the Lite-on drive? They make quality burns, but are quite loud from what I hear. Plextor or samsung drivers might be a better idea (and samsungs probably don't cost too much more either). It's between sony (CRX320E ) or samsung (SM-352NRNS ) right now. Both are the...
