Also, can you tell me how their PA160 compares to their PA120 series? I tried the link on the website and it didn't work for me... I am finding a rather steep price of over 100 for the PA120.2, but the PA160 is around 90. These prices coming from Danger-Den. I will shop around, but if it's not that ...

Thank you very much for your help. I will look into the Thermochill products as well. I was at first considering an Asetek 120.2 kit, but I think it might be better to mix and match my components. I was going for a very quiet system, and I was going to pop on two Nexus or equivilent fans to the radi...

The VGA power tests done by X-bit labs is nothing new to this site, they have often been used as a reference for over a year, I don't see why these measurements all of a sudden should be regarded as something fishy. The test method for PCI Express cards are the same as the method used for AGP cards...

Maybe if more review sites would put some effort in putting together their own measurement devices we could have more VGA power consumption measurements as those provided by X-bit labs . I'm sorry, I just don't buy words. In no way am I saying X-bit Labs is misleading or not to be trusted, but I ju...

Power draw measurements of VGAs done by comparing total system consumption at idle and at load can be used in relation to other VGAs power draw if they are measured under the same conditions to find out how different video cards stack up to each other, but it's not a very useful way to determine th...

Difference between Black Ice Pro and Xtreme?
Can anyone tell me the difference between the Black Ice Pro and the new Black Ice Xtreme? I read something somewhere that the new Black Ice Xtreme's need high airflow. Is this true, and can anyone elaborate? I want to have at least a CPU and VGA block, with a potential NorthBridge block depending on...

It sounds very strange to me that it could make that big of a difference... Maybe some genius could calculate the effect of ambient temp somehow? I'm using air cooling, but... I can tell you from my experience that a difference of 2C can have a HUGE impact on temperatures. When my room is 70F, my C...

Zalman VF700 and High End GPU?
Hello, If you have a high end GPU (Nvidia 6800/ATI X850 equivilents or higher; X800GTO^2 flashed and OC'ed is ok, etc.) and are using the Zalman to cool it, can you post your card, the speed settings if you know them, and their idle/load temps? Also, what speed is the fan on the Zalman you are using...

Do you think I should consider the ACS 5 Rev 3 or is that noisy as well? I would honestly say that the AC5R3 would be a choice to consider. It's nowhere near perfect, but I find that having the fan plugged into the card instead of having a set 5 or 12V that the Zalman comes equipped with allows the...

a) What makes you think that your card alone is consuming 150W? b) Where do you think the other Watts are going? Unless your card is maybe creating matter out of thin air, then it's pretty simple: electric power in = heat out. Nutball, I crudely compared my UPS power settings at idle load for my GP...

How do you think the VF-700 on low (silent) would work with a 6800GT? Honestly, I can't tell you for sure. But I can make an educated guess: I would tell you that you would be really lucky to get it to work properly on low. I would say you would need it at high just to keep the card adequately cool...

The stock speeds for the GTO^2 are 400/490 for core/mem. 400 MHz on the R480 chip is like driving a stock car at highway speeds. :) I did find, however, that the chip ran hot when loaded at stock speeds. If I didn't watch carefully, on low, the heat build up would surpass 75C. While I know these chi...

Just to let you know, the RED VF700CU is the Fatal1ty version. It spins a good 1000 RPM faster than the original version. Even so, you will still need to run the VF700CU at high for a high-end graphics card. I have an X800GTO^2 flashed to 16 pipes and OC'ed to XTPE speeds, and without the Zalman on ...

I must add my word of caution too: If you are going to be using these drives, make absolutely sure that you are using some kind of dampaning material when mounting them. Something like grommets. Otherwise these things will resonate. I know most people on here would read that and go "duh", but I beli...

I currently have 3 WD SATA 320 GB drives and a Seagate 120 GB SATA drive. I prefer the 3 WD's to the 1 Seagate as the Seagate is over 5C hotter, and much, much louder in seeks and idle even. Be careful though, on the newer SATAII's from WD... I don't think they've yet perfected their transfer rates,...

Yeah, that's true. I was thinking about using an Antec TriCool on low for temporary use, and then possibly replacing that one with a Nexus in the near future. I have read all the reviews and everything, but I didn't ever notice anywhere my following question being answered: When there is a fan on the Ninja, is there any vibration transferred to the heatsink or motherboard causing a resonance in the case? It seems to me that this might be the case, and if ...

You forgot an option for both sets... Neither cool or quiet!!! I had my Zalman for my X700Pro, and let me tell you, it was as quiet as it was cool. I loved it. I love my Zalman. But... I have just put it on my X800GTO^2 that I have flashed to 16 pipes and OC'ed to 576/591(x2), which is basically an overclocked X850XT PE. I notice that when my room is hot, above 75 degrees, that I get artifacts in my games when I have been gaming for a while. While the Zalm...

The Scythe Ninja is the best CPU heatsink to date that SPCR has reviewed. It does better both passively and non-passively than the XP-120. Don't get me wrong, I still use my XP-120 in my server, and it does an excellent job. But the Ninja is much better, and the Ninja DOES take a 120mm fan, NOT a 92...
