Well for your information I'm loading a 700MB outlook PST file. If you know anything about Outlook files, they are very inefficient. So yeah, load up a 700MB Outlook file and then let me know how slow your hard drive is. Oh, and while you're at it, export it to another file and tell me how that goes...

I like Storage Review a lot and yes I have read their article and no I'm not changing my mind because they (the forum folks) are so biased. I configured it with 16K clusters/16K stripe and it flys. Period, end of story. I'll happily run my sythetic benchmark and post it. It's fast . Real worl...

Sure thing! I'm glad I can help! I love computers, and helping other's with their's is something I love to do! :) One day, we'll all have computers that will never crash. Just like in Star Trek. Could you imagine if one of their computers had a Blue Screen just as they started a battle... imagine......

In a RAID configuration, the hard drives are striped (I'm sure you knew that). Remember that a hard drive fills in from the outside of the platter in - the less you have on your drive, the faster it will access data because the rotational speed at the end of the platter is faster than in the inside....

True. However, statistically, you do double your chances of losing data. If one hard drive has a 1 error in 1000 hours, then two hard drives have 2 errors per 1000 hours. But, I totally agree with you. You still only lost one hard drive, but now ALL your data is corrupt. That's where RAID 10 or 0+1 ...

You can get adapters that will plug into molex connectors. Remember, the PCI-E slot supplies 75W, and most video cards aren't above 150-200W if I remember correctly. In fact, it might even be lower. That means you aren't pulling a whole hell of a lot of power from the connectors, usually much less t...

I am going to sell this Raptor once the new drive comes in. And of course, I am going to set up the two SP's in ...

So I have 4 WD 250 GB drives. When I installed them in RAID0 config ( 2 drives at 250GB) I noticed a little performance increase in my computer at the time. I then figured out that my RAID chip, one of the popular ones... ITE, had a major flaw in it: It capped my rates at 75MB/s. I have since gotten...

If you got another Samsung, and your motherboard supports it (which most do these days) you could always RAID 0 your two drives together for a huge 500MB drive with roughly the same performance as your previous WD Raptor. Just a thought. However, if you had 2 Raptors RAIDed together, there would be ...

I would seriously consider changing your heatsink. In the P180, I don't know if you will be able to run an XP-120 fanless, much less the XP-90. I would consider getting the Ninja for the P180, as it is really well paired with the P180. As for the VGA cooler, I currently have the VF700Cu and I love it.

Um, the omission of the 2x8 is for EPS (dual-CPU workstations) is, I believe, ok for the 430. However, the omission of the 2x4 12V connector is, in my opinion, a major problem. You should not have to make your own 2x4 connector in this day and age. I would contact Seasonic or the place of purchase (...

What I did was actually replace the top and rear fan with Nexus fans, and turn the top fan into an INTAKE fan. This provided room-temperature air to my Ninja heatsink and causes my Prescott 3.4 to idle at 38C. It loads right at 48-50C. For hard drive cooling I used one of the TriCools in the front a...

Agreed. Comparing just the currents would come to that conclusion. However, the frequency has got to be a huge factor in terms of the efficiency. Its the only thing that's left. :) I think you guys *could* get a frequency converter, but I'm not sure how much they cost and how hard they are to implem...

Also, consider the power equation. For AC circuits is is Vrms x Irms x cos(0) where 0 is theta. EU versions use 240V of electricity. "American" versions use 120V of electricity. Both are RMS values. EU versions of PSU's usually use around 5A of current. "American" versions usually use around 10A of ...

Oh yeah I know that! :) I was merely stating that the .99 PF PSU's are *usually* more efficient because they put more quality components in in order to maintain not only the PF but also to meet the stricter guidelines. I know in Europe PF is required. I was also saying that mine has PF... which is t...

I thought that the 500W and the 600W were the same models, being different than the 430W. The differences were in the fan, and the 5 and 600W versions were a completely different circuit design. However, Seasonic then changed the fan from a sleeve bearing to the Adda dual ball bearing fan, the same ...

The difference between the Cu and AlCu is that the Cu is a pure copper version, and the AlCu is an aluminum-copper mix. I personally like copper, so I went with the Cu version. Its also about $5 more, but I think that copper cools a little better than aluminum. But, I think you'll find either way th...

2 inches, maybe. 4, and you might make the connection (doubt it though), but you will be putting A LOT of stress on the connector on the motherboard. If I were you, I would just pay the extra couple of bucks and maybe get the combined ATX and 12V extender. Better safe than sorry I say, especially wh...

Yes, exactly. If you wanted to be sure, you could always get the extension cable for the main ATX, but I don't think you will need it. Remember one thing: I have the 500W version of the S12. I believe that the 380W has the same cable lengths, but before you take my word for it, you might want to act...

I also would say that the Seasonic is not even close to loud. Its virtually silent even outside any case with just a PSU tester on it, or at least it was in my house. I know the ATX12V cable on my Seasonic needed more cable. I'm using the ASUS P5AD2-E Premium but I don't think your ATX12V is located...

I know its too late, but you might want to consider the S12 line from Seasonic the next time you are looking for a PSU. Its ULTRA silent in my P180 and I just love the thing. Also, why did you go with the XP-90C? I would have thought an XP-120 or Scythe Ninja would have been better, but perhaps I'm ...

I used AS5 when I threw away the original NB HSF (about an hour after the MOBO arrived) and installed an NB47J. I can hold the Zalman heatsink all day long, it never gets more than mildly warm. On the issue of Q-fan, the 1.018 version fails to load on Windows 32-bit for me. Then again, I know that ...

"Countless"? Surely you exaggerate. No, I don't exaggerate. Not only have I seen this in my own computers, but I run my own business and have been in business with computers for a long time (over 10 years now). I can firmly attest to power supplies causing a lot of the problems. Whether a heatsink ...
