Being the impatient type, I didn't take the time to reseat my XP-120, but went ahead to cut some corners (ha) on a Nexus fan and put in in suck mode (experimentally). What was interesting to me was that my idle CPU temp went down 1-2 degrees, and system temp went down (perhaps because in suck mode t...

Hi James, I was asking myself the same questions a month back. I picked up the Panaflo m0002a named (L1a) and it is working well enough to keep my 3.0 GHz under control with an XP-120. I'm going to reseat my XP-120 as I think I used too much AS5, and would like to improve temps further (under load a...

Thanks again Frank for your thorough efforts. I'll ned to get home to check the wire layout vs. what's expected at the mobo but as the CPU panaflo fired up at boot I'm guessing it's correct. Perhaps my temps aren't low enough for the Q-Fan to cut in (though I would think from cold boot there'd be a ...

Hi Frank - thanks for your continued help. My mobo manual is woefully brief around such things as Q-Fan. I think that I have the old Q-fan while with your mobo you'd have the Q-Fan 2. It's either on or off at the bios (with some settings for how sensitive, but not separate for each fan header). The ...

Thanks for your help Frank. Thermalright listed no known compatibility issues, and with the LGA775 RM I could orient the heatsink whichever way I wanted (as you probably knew), so I grabbed an XP-120. It's big. The install went well. I've never actually built a system, so was a little intimidated by...

I have the Aerocool VM-101 on my Radeon x600 and have had no artefacting at serious gaming uses. It's pretty quiet too, being fanless (I say pretty quiet, as I decided to put a front fan in to keep things moving across my HDs and the VM-101, so there's a net gain, but also a peripheral benefit to th...

XP-120 on Intel LGA 775 3.0 on Asus P5GD1?

Hi - I'm not a very experienced modder, but have been happy with what I've tried. I'm blatantly asking for advice without having formed a strong opinion (based on my lack of experience). My sig sums it up, but now the loudest thing in my case is clearly the Intel HSF. I'm considering two options: 1....

The VM-101 seems ideal on my x600. Some benchmarking produced no issues with heat, though I've made some other changes too. In case this helps anyone else I'll list my steps to date: x600 stock fan was loudest component in my system. 1. Installed VM-101 (didn't find Canadian supplier - thus the dela...

Is a Yate Loon used in or identical to the Nexus Real Silent 120mm?

If so I see ncix is out of stock, but Titan-Networks.ca seems to have them.

Not as cheap as the sourced yate loons I've seen here, but when there's demand for a fan (and I had one this week) then it may do.

Cooling a Sapphire Radeon X600 Pro 128MB

Hi - This card meets my neds (I'm a little budget conscious) and based on availability and prices seems to suit me. The performance is fine, and until it had "broken in" in a little (a couple days) it was fairly quiet. Now it's fairly noisy :( From the zalman pictures it looks like I have capacitors...

Thanks Frank.

Thanks Frank - that confirms what I thought.

The MB is reporting case fan rpms but not PSU RPMs so the installer simply put the PSU fan sensor onto the mobo connection point for case fan.

Temps are fine across everything, so I may try the tri-cool at low.

Case closed (literally). :)

SLK3000B tricool fan - rpm sensing

Sorry in advance for what is probably a noobie type question... but I'm a bit confused and want to look to the wisdom of spcr before asking my builder: I had a system put together with an EnermaxEG495P-VE Noistaker 485W PSU in an SLK3000B. I'm pleased with the tricool at medium (for now) and the PSU...

Nope! Both LCDs are 16.2M colors, not only the Samsung. Both uses TN panels. The Samsung doesn't use a PVA panel. http://www.viewsonic.com/pdf/us_eng/products/compchart_lcd.pdf shows the VP912b as 16.7 Million Colors Supported, 12ms - though it may be in error. From what I've read samsung may have ...

Some of my choice would be based on use.

The viewsonic displays 16.7M (8-bit) colours. The Samsung 16.2 Million (6-bit with dithering up to the 16.2).

For Photoshop, video editing it's be the Viewsonic. For gaming the Samsung. For DVDs the Viewsonic (probably).

Have you considered the Dell FP1905?

Side vents?

The mechanical drawing shows little room for doubt, but the description doesn't mention the side ports.

Any confirmation Antecrep?

Looks like USD 59.oo from the antec site (plus shipping).

That's a good deal to me - I just need to find a Canadian online retailer ;-)
