Which Seasonic PSUs have 24-pin power connectors? There seems to be a difference between power supplies depending on their power rating, i.e. 400W+ have 24-pin, <400W have 20-pin.
Super Silencer 400W and above
Super Silencer less than 400W
Super Tornado 400W and above
Super tornado less than 400W

The Quadro4 FX700 just uses a big heatsink:

This raises the question, why can't the equivalent Geforce card, an FX 5900XT, be cooled the same way?

Mounting brackets for TWO notebook drives
I'm looking for a mounting bracket that will let me mount TWO 2.5" notebook drives in one 3.5" hard drive bay in a regular desktop case.
Has anyone seen one of these? Thanks.

Seasonic Super Silencer 400, SS-400AGX: -6.13 V on -5 rail?
I keep getting -6.13 to -6.14 V on the -5 V rail.
I've tried two of these PSUs on two different motherboards, Asus P3B-F and Asus CUBX. Of course, Hardware Monitor stops bootup to alert me the voltage is out of spec.
What am I doing wrong?

AAM and Barracuda IV performance
Does anyone know how using seaaam.exe to tweak the AAM settings will affect performance on a Barracuda IV?
The following settings are available just by pressing "D" and "Enter":
Disabled - Vendor
Enabled - Perf
Enabled - Quiet
There is also the option to set AAM at a value between 0-256.

I think most laser printers are going to make a good amount of noise while printing. But if you can get a laser printer that at least does not have a cooling fan, you'll at least get silence when it's not printing. The Laserjet 4L you have and a LaserJet 1000 I've used are good in this respect. A La...

1. HP LaserJet 4-5 Service Manual, downloaded from an e-books newsgroup. 453 pages, PDF format. 2. Panaflo FBA09A24L1A. 92mm, 24V, no tach. 24V fans are a little harder to find, but Digi-key has a good selection. 3. WOL wire. I have a bunch of these sitting around. Thanks for your reply, I noticed this article, and it looks like a good idea. But I don't actually need to know the RPM. I only need to make the controller think it's getting a valid RPM signal. I was hoping there was some quick and dirty hack, like shorting two of the leads or snipping a wire somew...

How can I "simulate" fan RPM signal for two-wire P
I am replacing the cooling fan in my HP LaserJet 4M+ laser printer with a Panaflo. The printer is able to detect a fan failure and display this message on its status display. I am guessing that it does this through the RPM sensing wire. The problem is most Panaflos do not have RPM sensing. How can I...

Replacing LaserJet printer cooling fan with Panaflo?
My HP LaserJet 4M+ has a cooling fan that is loud even in Powersave mode. I am thinking of replacing it with a Panaflo. It looks like I'll need a 92x92x25, readily available from places like Directron: http://www.directron.com/92l1a.html I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried silencing any kind ...

Yes, I used the same CPU and heatsink in both the Slot 1 and Socket 370 motherboards. I used a Slot 1 adapter ("Slotket") with the Slot 1 adapter. I was just speculating on the possible reasons why, but I was also wondering has anyone else also noticed, all else being the same, that Slot 1 runs hott...

Although the Macintosh "cube" also uses convection cooling, I was thinking about the original Macintosh 128K and Macintosh 512K ("Fat Mac"). If the entire case can't be cooled with a chimney, maybe at least the power supply could be adequately cooled this way. I'm currently cooling my 300W Antec and...

This article is what reminded me of the Macintosh chimneys. I was thinking maybe a chimney added to the top of the vertically oriented power supply might enable fanless operation without giving up adequate cooling. Another thing is a chimney added to the top of a computer case (some cases already mo...

Lowest voltage to start a Panaflo
While testing my Panaflo fans, I found that the lowest voltage to START the fan spinning is around 8.5-9 V. However, once started, the fan will continue running even when I drop the voltage to around 4.25-4.3 V. More than a few of these Panaflo fans start and run fine hooked up to the 5 V lead of th...

Panaflo fan tail connector same as WOL connector
I noticed the Panalfo fan tail connector is the same as the connector on a WOL cable. Seeing how WOL cables are really cheap and plentiful, maybe this is a good way to save on paying for fan tails, which sometimes cost more than the fan itself. The problem is WOL cables have the same connector on bo...

chimneys and cooling
The first Macintosh used convection cooling, where hot air in the case would rise and exhaust through vents in the top of the case, and brought in cooler air through vents in the bottom of the case. The computer would still get hot, so people started crafting "chimneys" out of foam core or cardboard...
