Who else misses QMDs
Hi everyone, Its been pretty quiet around here for the last while, so I decided to post something to discuss. As some of you may know, Stanford has withdrawn the QMD units for the next few weeks in order to analyze the results that have been recieved so far. This has caused my total points productio...

Hi, here are a few suggestions: 1. Change PSU for something quiet - Seasonic is the preffered PSU around here, and I think the 430W one would suit your needs well with lots of headroom for future expansion. 2. Change CPU heatsink, the stock Intel heatsink is not known for being particularly quiet. N...

I had a p741 a while ago, I believe it should be the same project as yours. It didn't seem too bad for a Gromacs project, although on my AthlonXP rigs, it generated a lot less points per day compared to Tinkers. Speaking of Tinkers, I haven't been getting any for my AthlonXPs for the last few weeks,...

So far, this is what I have for folding: P4 2.8C w/ 1 instance folding 24/7, used ocassionally during the day. AthlonXP 2800+ folding ocassionally (probably less than 50% I guess) AthlonXP 2400+ folding ocassionally (~50% or less) Sempron 2600+ around 50% as well I've been lucky for now, being prett...

In Vancouver: I bought 2 40GB Spinpoints for a client from Netlink / NCIX.com 2 days ago and they were both Nidecs, a pleasant surprise, although the client doesn't care much about noise. I'm not sure about other drives, but if you send them an email to ask, they're usually pretty quick to reply. I ...

I had a whole series of tinkers for the last while, finally I'm getting Gromacs and now I'm nearly done my first QMD. I have a 1910 unit (Run 7, Clone 65, Gen 12), it has only 2107 steps and takes about 17 minutes per frame on my P4 2.8C system, giving me about 420ppd. Its a pretty big memory hog, t...

Suggestions for Quieting my PC
Hi, this is my first post at SPCR. I've been reading up on the articles and posts here and have tried to follow some of the suggestions so far. I would appreciate comments and suggestions to further quiet my PC. My current setup is: CPU: Intel 2.8C w/ Zalman 7000A-AlCu @ 1000 RPM (PVM) Mobo: Asus P4...
