Albatron is putting out a 6150/430 board for socket 754
Who knows when this will be available, but they announced this board for New Year. http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/mb/specification.asp?pro_id=211# I also have no idea if it will recognize a Turion, or even if it does, if it would use the correct voltage. And then, will it handle cool'n'quiet?...

Celeron M does not support speed step and is in no way comparable to the A64 3000+. And as stated earlier, a motherboard with a CT-479 also does not support speedstep. With an A64 3000+ you have a real chip that can really perform. I like the idea of a pentium-m desktop especially for an HTPC, but i...

I guess I'm just used to my AXP-M 2400+ @1.1v/1.2Ghz with my zalman 7000 with fan running @5v that stays in the high 30's. When I run it overclocked @1.35v/2.0Ghz with the zalman running @7v it runs in the high 40s to 50 range (depending on ambient). Again, I just think it's really a bad design flaw...

Still seems hot
61 degrees still seems really hot for the cpu under load. Not sure they made that much of an improvement. I'd rather see them redesign the mounting bracket to use after market copper heat sinks. This board was really intriguing, but a pentium-m chip & board is too expensive to run hotter than an ath...

I have seen a lot of the NIDECs at Microcenter
If you have a Microcenter near you, they sell Samsungs as OEM drives. The beauty is that they have them in big plexiglass boxes, and you can read the motor type. The one in Cambridge, MA has a good mix of both JVC and NIDEC motors. They carry the 1604N(IDE), and the 1614C(SATA) 160GB drives, and an ...

Filtered mine many times
I tried to leave a review 3 times about their Samsung SP1614C drives. I wanted to warn people that they could get a JVC motor like I did. With each attempt, I tried to be more deferential to newegg and their service, and just tried to stick to the fact that there were two motor types and the NIDEC w...

They won't check for you
I bought a 1614c from newegg, but got a JVC motor version. The motor type is printed on the spindle on the bottom of the drive. I called and tried to get them to pick a NIDEC motor for me, but they will not. There are some stores that will. All covered in other threads. Try searching in these forums.

Thank you for unlocking this thread
Actually this post is about thin 10mm fans. Not all of us have the luxury of space, and the other thread is about 60mm threads in general. I cannot fit a 60x25, and if you search for 60x10 in these forums, you will see how little there is. That said, it is true that people tend not to search the for...

I just ordered a couple of deltas
I ordered from here: http://store.yahoo.com/coolbidnow/de60ulqucafa1.html
I'll get them some time this week, so I will let you know how they are. I'm not sure if the specs are right but the rpms were slower than other 60x10 fans I saw.

DFI NFII Ultra Infinity
The DFI Ultra Infinity is a nForce2 board with the MCP-T "Sound Storm" southbridge with SPDIF out for 5.1 digital out and 6 speaker analog out -- it will save you having to buy a sound card. It has two IDE controllers and four SATA controllers with RAID 0/1. It has voltage, FSB, and multiplier contr...

I tried without much success
I suspended my drive in a 5.25" drive bay with bungie cord, but that didn't really kill the drive whine. Then, I surrounded the drive with foam (on 3 sides of the drive cage) and did more general case dampening. This helped a lot, but the whine of the JVC motor was still louder and more annoying tha...

I am running a 1 Ghz mobile
Actually, I am running a 35w mobile 2400+ running at 5x200 @ 1.1v. I could go lower by dropping the FSB (5 is the lowest multiplier my motherboard does), but I wanted to avoid sync issues with my memory and my video card. I am also using the Zalman 7000 alcu with the fan all the way down (uses fanma...

The drive is quiet during access
but it whines louder than the 40Gb Seagate I have for the OS. I can't hear the Seagate, and it's not a super quiet one. I think I will RMA the Samsung and hope for a better one.

I have a loud samsung -- now what?
I bought a Samsung 1614C 160Gb SATA drive from newegg, and I got one with a JVC motor. It whines loud enough that I can hear the drive through the case from several feet away. I've tried drive suspension, but that did not stop the high pitched whine. I've lined the drive cage with foam, and that hel...
