Re: Ninja SNCJ-1000 for socket 1155 with Noctua backplate -
Has anyone successfully used the Noctua NM-I3 kit to mount a Ninja Plus "Rev.B" 1100 to socket 1155? My Core2 Duo/socket 775 board died 2 weeks ago so I upgraded to a i5-2500k/socket 1155 board and was hoping to reuse my Ninja, only to sadly discover that Scythe doesn't make an adapter kit for it. :...

Meh, we wouldn't all be here if we'd let something minor like a having to making your own mounting bracket stop us. ;-) Given right tv wall bracket, it shouldn't be that hard to make a mount that can position the Eee behind the tv but at the left, right or top edges so you could reach the optical dr...

I'm not sure if Dell is using a propritary BTX shaped motherboards, but historically, I have side by side compared a Dell ATX motherboard to a standard ATX case and they were not compatible. Since the case has some plastics, you can try your hand at dyeing them for some really bizzard color schemes....

You might try asking in the Directron forums to see if they can contact Soldam. If you are looking for a door panel type like that you might try contacting Antec and other known US case companies suggesting they make a after market part like that for their popular models.

Re: how to build a computer without a floppy
I still think the floppy is way too much trouble, I had so many floppy disk problems I rather email the file to my email account. Usually when I bring a floppy disk from school to home and home to school and then school to home again the disk dies on me and this happens over 50 percent of the time....

Zalman fanless case review
1st review I've seen on the net for this.

Expensive like hell, but it proves it can be done at least.

its on sale for one day (12/30/03) at newegg.com for $90 w/free shipping It's showing up to me as 75 w/ $15 FedEx ground shipping so I wouldn't qualify it as "on sale". Not to say it's a bad price, and they are definetely a reputable vendor. Shipping on cases usually is high since they are so heavy...

I noticed the Antec Super Lanboy isn't on the list. Also you might want to update the Antec P160 link to the main site now.

I use a hobby knife (x-acto blade) to extract molex connectors. It takes a little skill and twisting the wire in the housing to bend the tabs in. Using the sharp point I can easily bend the tabs back out once I remove the pin. I've made many molex Y power cables into 7v adapters this way. Haven't tr...

I found this interesting post on slimming down windows XP by deleting as many non-essential files as possible. It's alot of work but one guy got his XP install down to 288MB! For windows 2000 you would need to install a RAM disk for the internet web cache and swapfile or they would eventually kill the flash drive with repeated write cycles. I'm not sure but you maybe able to get away with disabling the swapfile if you have plenty of ram (1GB+) and only use light ram coms...

Looks like Directron has the P160 in stock now. (no more ETA)
At $114 it's the best price I've found so far.
If anyone has one, please post some pics of the front grill area/bezzel where the fan is mounted as I'm curious to how much clearance there is for airflow.

Yep. That's the Compucase LX-6A19 also know as the D8000 and the base chassis for the Antec SKL3700AMB . If it actually has the firewire port like it says, it would be a 1st as I've yet to find one of these cases with it. (all have firewire blank punchout) You can read up on Katana Man's system buil...

Newegg has the Super Lanboy in for $80 w/$15 shipping. I just noticed that it has 120mm fans front and back where as the older model had only 80mm. Aside from it missing front firewire ports, I might end up picking up one of these instead of the P160 (been waiting for a review).
