The Enermax you mentioned measured 21 dBA/1m even at 200W output. Well isnt this out of SPCR spec? I think your spec is something ~12-15 dBA/1m? Or check this one its so quiet to... Laughing i think its wise to think if your psu give ~ 40 db noise that you'll be fine with 30~dB fan? Those numbers a...

At 1 meter away, it's 30dBA. And too damn loud for us. But its inside case. How then PSU working on 44 dB get score 8 for noise isnt it out of SPCR spec?? Or you assume it will work on 200 W with, but check this out its minimum noise is 21dB anyway more than your spec. Isn't this true that even hdd...

If it seems too good to be true, it is usually not true. 94.92CFM with only 30.10dB Simply absolutely no way you can believe this. It would be true only if the sound meter was on another floor.  Well why dont SPCR test this fan then? Its just 14.99 , but may be new word in silent cooling...

I could put silent (120mm) and fans of course, but my hdd (maxtor) do alot of noise anyway.
I need to think about this!

Yes my mistake, about memory i taken 4.4W (according to for this ) for 4.4A, but 0.88A sounds wrong to so i put 2A there. About radeon i added some more amps on +12V as well because i may upgrade to X800 some day. And assuming 23.5W for DVD-RW and 24W for CD-RW is again just outrageous >CD-RW > DC +...

Updated table, but i leave cpu on 10 :P.
Ok i think i will be just fine with 420 W psu with adequate amperage on each rail, but i dont want it to work at the breaking point so i go with something like 470. Well now i go pick some usable psus.

Re: Newbie in need of advices building new silent system

Sound card: Comments: Do I really need it? Is the quality of onboard sound good enough now for DVD and gaming? If you speak of "nForce 2 APU" onboard sound then maybe you will be ok with it, but with anything lower than that i would buy Audigy 1/2 or at least Sound blaster 24bit. This review shows ...

Don't take my word for it, take Intel's: they rate your CPU at 81.9 watts TPD. They under-report as a rule, so 85 is probably a safe estimate. I have not found specs for my cpu on intel site so i according to numbers from this article from firingsquad.com besides they say its from intel pdf's and i...

Your CPU is going to pull about 85 watts, max, not 120. The board alone will use about 85watts from your power supply. Thanks. Dunno i guess they know better, but still dont have email saying how much will it use on each rail. The wattages for the hard drives are about double what they should be, a...

Actually i started from firingsquad.com numbers and changed them a bit to power specs i could find for hardware i use. I get video (ATI 9800 XT) power consumption from this xbitlabs.com artcle. My CPU is P4 2.4 GHz @ 2.7 GHz, but maybe i upgrade sometime so i would like to think cpu use 10A. Let me ...

Estimating power i need for my system.

I need new psu and i decided to count how much power i need so i build this chart but i dont know how much power motherboard alone will use and couple of other peripherals. There is no info in manual so I emailed to asus support and was told mobo alone will use 85W, but they did not know how much po...

I think it is sometimes the same thing with extreme overclockers. Will they really notice the difference of a few extra MHz? Probably not, but they still try to push their system as far as it will go. Overclock with old systems was not noticible like 30-60 Mhz but with new ones you can overclock as...

Question about PSU MAX power.

I see this on many psu's and i am curious for example for this http://www.tomshardware.com/howto/20040122/images/aerocool_packing.jpg 420W psu how come that +3.3V, +5V, +12V = 400 W and -5V, -12V, 5VSB = 28W if psu is only 420 W and not 428W, why? And in http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/psuSpec...

Why you need silent system?

I kinda dont understand why do people here want silent systems, why preformance is not matter to your you only want it to be as silent as possible?
I myself have fan with 6000 RPM on CPU and its noise level is 55 DB and its fine you will stop notice it in couple of days using it.
