I will not be undervolting or overclocking. Stock speed. I also figured since it was a 45nm CPU, that almost any HSF would be fine. No? What's a good heatsink that is relatively small, and can take a quiet 92mm fan? Robert You might want to rethink that. I always undervolt the CPU as much as possib...

As the OP said, you don't NEED a Solo/P150/P18X/P19X to get quiet computing. It just makes things easier, as they were designed with the idea of "quiet" in mind... There are plenty of other cases on the market that can be quiet, given a little work. great, i think i will go with my desired case then...

1. The famous PSU duct that keeps the PSU fan from ramping up. This is mostly a crude kludge, rendered impractical by 120mm fan PSUs, and rendered moot by cases like the P180. "rendered moot"? LOL! The P180 is the "PSU Duct poster child". That would be what that "thermal zone" that's walled off by ...

How about everyone and their grandmother owning an SUV or Hummer now. Before rap got big people use to drive cars. Doesn't that design ensure that the cool/warm air from the upper chamber doesn't mix with the cool/warm air from the lower chamber? I'm told by Nick that MikeC helped design the P180 for Antec, so I'm sure there's a purpose for it. Is it really a good idea to take out all of those dividers? Granted...

Looks WAAAAAAY better man! Good work!! 8) No doubt. Much better. A few small recommendations: -that rear 120mm fan has a pesky power wire that cannot be tied back due to its length. Here's what you can do; unscrew the fan and rotate it 90* counter-clockwise to give the power cable some extra length...

According to the P.S., it seems so. Thanks Anvar. Man there are so many things to be on the look-out for with a new rig. I was worried about the power supply, now I learn that the original rubber O-rings were inferior. If you call Antec support, they will send out "replacement" O-rings--which are t...

There is a simple reason we won't see the Cell on the desktop. It is called legacy software. MS (and all other companies) won't go and rewrite their software for this non-x86 processor. So it would be limited to Linux and therefore (alas) not commercially viable. Good point! ...and that's the reaso...

When I was piecing together my computer I looked at the difference in cost from my quiet build to a non-quiet build and the difference was only ~$100. that maybe true, but most of parts that i have now i would never have bought if i wasnt on a silent PC quest. This has been mentioned, but I want to quantify it a bit - legislating a maximum sound output from a device doesn't necessarily affect the output dB. I don't know what the variation in headphones is, but loudspeaker sensitivity can vary from something 86 dB @ 1W & 1m to 98 db 1W & 1m. The same is t...

Well what do you suggest? Here's some ideas to try... You can probably route the main power underneath the MOBO. If you've got to run drives in the upper section, put your PATA drives there and your SATA's in the lower. Otherwise all in the lower Pull the fan in the lower section. You might not nee...
