Good to hear you're having some success :) I've got the 3520 as well and certainly when spinning up and reading CDs it's stunningly loud. When it's reading a DVD it's a lot quieter but far from ideal for an HTPC :( What you may want to do is to replace the stock ASUS northbridge cooler with a zalman...

Looks good, I've got an old version of the same design and it's comaritively quiet. The one I have is definately not quiet, as are all laser printers. This is due to the drum spinning up I think.... Thermal is the only truely silent printer but as they suck, I guess you'll have to live with it :D

That 9500pro could probably be kept pretty cool on a passive zalman cooler! It's not exactly a high powered fan so as long as you have sufficient case flow you're going to have one less fan running :)

I'm hoping to mod my 45G PSU with an external PSU fan using either a slim 80x10mm or a TMD 2 fan. The TMD will be best if it's quiet as there's no dead air at the spindle. Let's hope they undervolt well :)

That's some mad modding. Hats off to the guy but for someone obsesed with noise, it's crazy that he hasn't changed his stock graphics cooler yet!

With fan changes to 120mm undervolted beasties I bet he won't bear it at all.

If the block isn't fitted properly to the card or the heatpipes to the block then you're gonna screw your temps right up. Make sure that it's all secured properly and that there's AS5 between the pipe and blocks. I've seen pics of the cooler and it looks a bit dodgy the only other thing I can sugges...

There does seem to be a lot of fans there mate. Try turning off a rear fan and undervolting all the others. should help loads. Oh, also the rear grills make LOADS of noise, they look real pretty but they're useful on the back unless you want a computer/air purifier combo :)

I think it's without ascorbic acid or am I going mad? Anything branded as 'acid free' will fit the bill anyway. You really want to get a type that melts at a higher temperature as well as there's nothing worse than liquid glue in your PSU :) Have you localised the source of the whine. Chances are if...

Actually, the floppy/card reader combo is available in beige, black and silver over at www.aria.co.uk. There's two versions out now, the second is apparently the best due to revised card reader electronics.

Unsure if this fits a 6600GT or not (but I doulbt it) but every review I've seen has rated this cooler as worse than the zalman passive cooler. I really like the idea of an external radiator on a graphics card and I hope that it is futher researched. This would be perfect for a SFF computer if it co...

Your best solution might be the passive zalman graphics card cooler with a 120mm fan on a bracket blowing lots of cool air at it. The cooler itself shouldn't have any problems but at load it can get pretty toasty. A 120mm at very low speed isn't noticeable over faster fans.

I'm not familiar with your mobo setup but placing a lower CFM 40mm fan on the side of a full sized, cut down NB sink might work better for ya. Using a full sized one instead of one that's low profile will get you much better temps.

The coils are voltage regulators I think, kinda like hardcore MOSFETS. I've got a similar problem with my coils, after a heavy session gaming, my shuttle PSU squeeks when it cools down. Once I've found the appropriate glue I'm gonna treat it as well.

I intend to mod a 120x38mm ducted fan (prob panaflo if the one I got pushes enough air at low RPMs) to the back (modding and sealing the ICE system for optimal airflow). silicone gasketing all fans/drives, suspending the HDD and maybe making some more airholes for GFX card. Hello lovely modders, I've just got my grubbly little hands on one of these shuttles and I need some guidance on what to equip it with.
