I was told by ASRock it would be available this week at MA Labs and Newegg, and it just showed up today as far as I can tell:

Sorry I left that out, I'm in Vancouver, Canada. I haven't seen this case advertised anywhere in North America, but I have noticed it in Australian, Asian, and at least one European web-store's. I want the 3400 for the ability to change out the PSU, should I choose to at some time, however even the ...

Any word on Antec's NSK3400
I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding the release date for Antec's NSK3400. This would be my first choice for a mid-performance build I'm planning for a friend. It's been talked about here on SPCR since before Christmas of last year, but still nothing from Antec other than this reply ...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll need to hold out hope that removing the VFD will allow a second full size drive. It will be tough enough finding Blu-Ray drives I can afford, let alone source a slim one right now. Not sure , but from what I've read elsewhere, the Xbox HD-DVD add-on may be...

Antec Fusion using two optical drives?
I would like to use the Antec Fusion in a HTPC build, but I anticipate needing two optical drives (BD & HD DVD). Could someone with experience with this case please tell me if it is possible to forgo the VFD and replace it with a second optical drive? I would otherwise use the NSK2400, but I like th...

I have some experience with them, but I'm not sure how valid it will be. We changed servers at work, junking the old one that was in service for about 3 years. The fans were all Mechatronics, and they were the noisiest fans I had ever heard. When I couldn't give them away, I threw them out. Now cons...

Zalman NEPS fanless external PSU not to be?
I have been checking with Zalman periodically for updates on the status of the external NEPS PSU's. I liked the idea of a fanless PSU that didn't just dump it's heat load into the case for other components to deal with. On Feb 21st Zalmans response was: Subject: RE: NEPS 400 The NEPS400 is still cur...

I have been converting to notebook drives replacing my SP1614N (nidec) and Seagate Barracuda IV drives. I tried single Samsung Spinpoint laptop drives, but was unimpressed with the performance. I had three of em so I thought "why not try RAID0" as others have mentioned trying. The result was dramati...

I have both the Samsung Spinpoints (2 in raid0) and 2 of the SATA Fujitsu MHT2040BH models. The Samsung Spinpoints are very noticeaby quieter, but the Fujitsu's have a respectable performance advantage. (in single drive testing as one of the Fujitsu's was DOA and I'm still waiting for it's replaceme...

Without a hard and fast link to corroborate this. It has been my impression that laptop drives today usually store in the neighbourhood of 40Gbytes/platter. From a Toms Hardware review (in which the MP0804 is compared) there is the following comment: http://www4.tomshardware.com/mobile/20041213/note...

That is unfortunate as I was hoping to use the SATA Raid controller on the MoBo. If my Fuitsu's exhibit the same whine when they arrive I will have to find other uses for them and stick with the Samsung's instead. mco_chris was your drive the MHT2040BH 40 Gbyte model? I had read there was a noise pe...

Xbit Labs test nine 2.5" Notebook Drives
This test from Jan 20 2005 compares Nine 2.5" 40Gbyte drives. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/storage/display/9-25-hdd.html While focusing on performance, and not silence, it might be an interesting read for anyone considering a notebook drive in their quest for quiet. I started with a single Samsu...

This looks very interesting, at the mfrs site they show the 865 chipset S615 with what appears to be a heatsink enclosed case in the following image:

Does not look like the S625 uses it, but who knows?

I'm using the Papst fans you mention in my Sonata's at 5V. With a front and back configuration with the front fan ducted through the drive cage area. This has finally allowed me to reach "silence" as I have to get down to floor level to hear anything now. Moving to the Papst at 5Volts was the bigges...

I had a DVD burner in one of these external USB2 enclosures and the fan noise was horrendous. I pulled the made in china 40mm and replaced it with a spare Sunon I had lying around. TD_nw Ilike my new D8000's and they are superior to my previous Antec SX1030's in all aspects except the guage of steel used. The edges are all rolled and the features like, isolated drive cage and easily removed front bezel and side panels are sweet. Also the front filter is nice compared to what I...

Well I'll certainly look forward to hearing of your experiences then! The slow spinning "BIG" fans don't pester me as much even if I can hear them doing their job.
