Smallest PC with PCI slot

What is the smallest silent PC with an empty PCI slot?

Note: silent meaning silent like a SPCR designed system, not silent as in marketing a quieter system

MikeC - great reply. Question: if the machine won't even turn on-- ie: the power supply won't even start -- could the motherboard be at fault or would the power supply start up even if the motherboard was bad.

My ARM Stealth PC just died - won't boot - what do I do

Hi. My ARM Stealth from 2003 just died. It won't boot up. How do I get this fixed, repaired, etc.. I am betting it is the power supply that crapped out. I do not have extensive time to fix this myself so either I need to send the system to someone, or buy a compatible quiet power supply and have a l...

P4 3.2; ATI 3100; some WD 40GB HD; not sure what the soure of the noise really is... I thought the whole thing would just be "pretty quiet"

Dell Precision workstation 370

I just bought a Dell Precision workstation 370. It's not as quiet as some of the Optiplexes I've seen/heard. Is my Precision defective--or is this the way all Precision's are? Is there anything I can do to make it quieter--or should I return it and buy something else?

Quiet PSU for Macintosh G4?

Are there any quiet PSU for Macintosh G4? Does anybody mod any of our favorite PSUs for connection to a Mac logic board?

ARM is hands-down the best PC company I've ever dealt with. Going from the nightmare of the Dell ordering process to ARM was pleasantly shocking. The unit arrives on time, as spec'd, and doesn't have all those silly reinstallation discs and proprietary nonsense. Oh, and even their lowest grade of qu...

HAHAHAHA. You guys will NEVER believe what the cause was. I feel SOOOOO embarassed. Oh my gosh. Ya see, my little cousin was over the other day and was playing with some "classic" toys of mine... and apparently, a battery weakened SUPER SIMON from 1970something was making the timeout noise (every 24...

Mark--great idea. Just tried copying 2.4GB worth of files... noise still remains in 24 seconds gaps so we can rule out the HD. What else would cause this?

I've had the HD for years, but I never heard this noise before a few days ago. Could it really be the HD?

Who sells quiet PCs other than ARM?

Hi. The ARM systems seem very expensive. Can anyone here build a quiet pc around one of those super quiet power supplies and cases and sell it as a system. I can add OS, monitor and input devices. Is there a better source for quiet pcs than arm systems?

Thanks for the fast replies all. Here's more specifically what I'm looking for. How close can I come? black/dark grey case. max 8" high and 13" wide system is going to be in a listening room so absolute silence is the biggest priority. since i assume i am going to be forced into a slow processor i'd...

smallest-quietest-fastest-cheapest PC ?

So what is the consensus right now for the smallest-quietest-fastest PC to buy/build right now?

That breadbox PC looked pretty cool. I've also seen those Shuttle cases.

Is it possible to have a small/silent PC?
Is it possible to go ATX instead of mini-ITX?

Thoughts, suggestions?
