To be honest, i think that the papsts, panaflos and enermaxs must be so close in performance that the specific enviroment that you put them in would be the largest factor in determining which is best. Its also worth taking into account that different noises annoy different people, so one might find ...

Yeah, ill echo what crisspy said as well regarding noise caused by grills. I dont have any grills on any of my fans (they are all at 7 or 5V anyway, so no significant pain is caused by putting your finger in one). But if you were gonna use filter grills, it might be worth trying them on the inside o...

and why isn't there much talk about peltier cooling solution in this forum? they don't need fans do they? peltiers are just heat pumps (which also create heat), so as more heat needs more cooling and hence more noise, thats probably why people dont use them for quiet applications. I bought a 60W TE...

Hmmm... Peltiers are just gonna produce extra heat, so i doubt its gonna be the miracle solution Peltiers at first appear to be. From my time on overclocking forums it is general consensus that air cooled Peltiers are dubious to say the least. Most require water cooling to be effective. Also you wou...

Yes, then you meant radiation. But even still radiation isnt going to give anywhere near enough cooling unfortunately. I can prolly go find some equations, but it would be hard to work it out with all the variables. Also remember that your HD is still in a plastic box, which is a poor conductor anyw...

falloutboy: If your running it at stock i would think 7V to the NGML would be fine. Im running mine at about 9V but i have a 1.8A OCed to 2.4GHz, with the VCore up at 1.575V. At 7V it will be completley inaudible, given that its inside your case and your PSU will probably be much louder. Im using th...

Heat pipes certainly arent a gimmick, its just that this application of them is completely pointless, giving no benefit what so ever - hence making it a gimmick. In the case of the zm80 tho, the heatpipe is used to move the heat to the top of the card so convection cooling can work more efficiently....

Have these been mentioned before? Something similar has anyway... What i said then was that the point of heatpipes is to move the heat to somewhere else so you can use a larger heatsink. The heatsink they have there is smaller than others which dont use heatpipes... Might be interesting to see a com...

Well i dont think its any kind of conspiracy! Have you tried undervolting them? I know you would be quite right if you replied 'They're not supposed to be undervolted', and thats fair enough, but people here do undervolt even the NGL 12dB fans (I do anyway :)), and its just something people have tho...

Eheim pumps are apparently the best for watercooling, and are supposed to be really quiet too as long as you decouple them from the case (on a rubber mousemat at the bottom of your case or something). Steer clear of Rio pumps, as i have heard lots of people say that they have failed on them. Danner ...

That'll be pretty quiet i would think (not silent but a lot quieter than a standard PC). After you get a barracuda the main problem will be the PSU. The fan is pretty quiet, but the problem is the turbulence inside the PSU. But, if you have quiet music or anything else on inthe background, your comp...

I would think yours should be cooler because my Core voltage is at 1.55V rather than the stock 1.5V, and i think heat increases with the square of voltage? Also it is hot because i have my fan at the lowest possible speed. Overclocked chip with an undervolted low noise (hence low CFM) is bound to be...

Hiya, welcome to SPCR! That is a sweet lookin PC :P im using an Alpha 8942T on my P4, its at 2.4G too (tho its an OCed 1.8A). The fan im using is a papst NGML (19dB 26CFM) and its running at around 9V. Keeps the Proc. below 55*C at full load :) You might wanna wait to see what the new Thermalright i...
