I bought the same HD last week and noticed it made seek noises when idle. Its very obvious because I have the HD in an external USB case plugged into my laptop which is extremely quiet.
So I came here looking if this was a common problem. Seems like there is nothing I can do about it.

About June last year I read a review of the Q-Technology 300 Watt PSU and thought I'd get a 400 watt version because I thought my PC needed the extra power. It was quieter than my old Enermax 450watt but if was no where near as quiet as people said their 300watt versions were. Then the Nexus came ou...

I've just did some testing with the Nexus PSU. PSU on idle, I took it out and used my hands to push the casing of the PSU. The buzzing seemed to have quieten down but I'm not sure if it was due to my hands insulating the buzz. It lead me to believe the casing was vibrating and causing the buzz so I ...

Nexus 3000 PSU coil whine?
My Nexus PSU seems to have developed some coil whine. I remember when I first bought this PSU 1 month ago it was was totally silent on idle. I turned off my PC for 12hrs, unplugged all HDs, CD-ROMs and fans to make sure it wasn't the PSU fan that was making the noise. The noise was still there. So I...

I bought the QT-ENS0240 last July. I woudn't call it quiet, unless you have something like 6 HDs and 2 CD ROMs I wouldn't recommend it. I recently bought the Nexus 3000 PSU and it is alot quieter than the QT-ENS0240. If you are worried the 300watt PSU isn't enough then you can look at my rig. Athlon...

This fan controller is similar to the Vantec but I've read that it has no buzzing noise.

I was going to buy this, but I'm glad I didn't since alot of reviews report a buzzing sound.
Here's a review.
I think I'll get 4 Zalman Fanmates instead. Anyone know the cheapest place to buy Zalman fanmates in UK?

Go for the Nexus 3000. It's more quiet than the Q-technolgy PSU and the price is about the same. I have a Nexus in my main rig, no problems. Zalman Fanduct
Has anyone had any experience with the Zalman Fanduct?
http://www.sharkacomputers.com/newzal80fand.html
When installed is the CPU fan meant to be sucking?
Does anyone know where to get this in UK or Europe? The shipping cost from US to UK is more than the fan duct itself.

I got the Nexus 3000 yesterday. It is definately a lot quieter than my old Q-Technology 400 Watt PSU. I was worried that my PC would demand too much power from the Nexus and cause the fan to jump in speed. I am pleased that this has not happened, at least no big increases. At the moment I am powerin...

I don't like the idea of modding the insides of a PSU since I'm no good at electronics. I actually have a 250watt Powerman PSU that came with a Case I bought 1 1/2 years back, it's extremely silent but the airflow is very low and little air pressure is felt behind the PSU. I struggle to tell if the ...

Yes, this the Qtechnology 400watt PSU has 2 fans. The PSU fans are easily noticable on bootup. I've tried disconnecting all HDs and CD-Roms to see if the PSU fans would run any slower/quieter but I did not notice any difference. The fans do get slightly louder as the PC warms. The fan at the back of...

Is the Nexus really that quiet? Is it really hard to tell if the PSU fan is spinning as some people say? How loud will the Nexus get when it's running at maximum capacity? I've got a 400watt QTechnology rated <28dB(A) and I find it too loud, so I'm looking to get the Nexus but wondering if there wil...
