Grounding unmounted HD?
Hi, I recently unmount my hard-drive and I've put it on a carpet+rubber (the HD is in contact only with the rubber) piece on the bottom of my case. Some people (including an electrician) are telling me that I must ground my HD, otherwise, it might be risky? What do you think? I find it odd, since a ...

About the Zalman heatpipe videocard solution?
Hi guys, I’m looking to silence my videocard. I heard about that Zalman heatpipe heatsink, and I’m really interest in it, but I don’t remember witch was the model that support a GeForce4 Ti 4200 128MB. Could you link me? A Canadian store link would be very appreciated. And I was wondering if that he...

I stick with a T line fitting. I'll put the big pump into a DIY anti-sonic box; witch is an old speaker (with the drivers removed). I've replaced the front and back door of the box by 1/2" MDF, and I’ve put some anti-sonic material (use for my HT room isolation) on those two MDF sheet. The box still...

Well, I've manage to find a solution in the mean time, so I ordered the 1250. I'm building myself an anti-sonic box for the pump so I won't hear it for sure :) The hose will sit on the cold concrete in my basement (under the carpet). I got the idea from someone who has tried it, and it worked for hi...

Silencing a powerful water pump?
Hi, I am (still am) about to watercool my computer, but I can’t decide witch pump I’ll get. I will use a 15m hose instead of a radiator as a passive WC system and I planned to eventually watercool EVERYTHING in my computer (Hard-drive, North bridge, GPU, PSU, no fan at all), so I need a powerful pum...

Jhh, DVD-A is an high-resolution audio format, just like SACD (Super Audio CD from Sony and Philips ) , witch offer 74 min of HD music in (5.1 - 96kHz / 24 bits). This format will probably (I hope) replace the CD in a near future. The ONLY devices that allow transferring DVD-A in a digital form is t...

Thanx for the valuable info.
I would be more inclined to use those:

That would be a neat and effective solution

Extigy don't do DVD-A :-/ Extigy has an Audigy inside, not an Audigy2. I recently bought an A2, especially for it's DVD-A capabilities, so I don't want to "downgrade". I could wait for the Extigy2 but it might be long with an airplane by my side :( But price is OK if you can have a good quality 5.1 ...

Sounds like a good idea with external DACs, but those products aren't common (those who support EAX 3.0 and HD-Audio). In fact, I know none! And long DVI cables are very pricey... Any gamer have tried this kind of solution (someone who play to FPS preferably), did you notice ANY differences (control...

Well, I’m in this thread for sure! :D I’m about to go into the water-cooling route for the it’s superior silence/performance ratio (but mainly for silence). I hope for a passive solution, but I don’t know where to get the rad or the heater-core, a HUGE rad or heater-core, like this one: http://www.l...

Hi, I’m looking for the sliencest 120 mm fans, any idea? I’m new to the whole silent PC philosophy, but I’ve managed to understand that Panaflos are quiet good at being silent. Right? Witch model would you recommend me? (Silence is my first priority) Those fans will serve to cool this radiator: http...

Well, Duel DVI will become more popular when people will care to buy DVI monitors, otherwise that's worthless. If companies adopt DVI-I for their analog monitor and if they stop doing digital displays with an analog in, that would help a lot, but unfortunately, I don't think that will be soon :-/. T...

Finally a Canadian store! :) Thanx MikeC, but I would appreciated to hear what “silent pc folks” have to say about what I’m about to buy since I go water-cooling ONLY because I want to silent my annoying airplane (PC). I will spend around 300-350$ on that WC-system, so if it happen to be half-silent...
