Thanks for the detailed reply L...whatever numbers. The air coming out of my PSU is moderately warm, but i'm not all that worried about that. However, could you elaborate on "ripping" and "jamming" the wires a bit? I don't quite understand how that works - do I just pull out the wires out of o...

I want to connect a quiet NMB fan that already has a standard 3-pin connector in my power supply, which only accepts 2-pin connectors. What I am thinking of doing is removing the tail off both the stock fan and the NMB, then attaching the 2-pin stock connector to my quieter fan. The only problem is,...

I have a 80GB 8MB cache DiamondMax +9 to replace a 120GXP that went bad. The FDB is very quiet, and even with only one fan running in my whole system, you can only hear a VERY tiny whine if you hold your ear up to the side of the drive. My 8500 is running at 250/275 with the STOCK heatsink and fan UNPLUGGED. It shows absolutely no artifacts after even an hour of 3Dmark. I'm even starting to think about overclocking this baby. ;)

Yes, it is true that Heroichi is a manufacturer of Antec PSU's. My older 350W Antec (non true/smart-power) clearly states "Heroichi" in small print on the label. It is fairly quiet, but being a two fan design, with cheaper globalwin(?) fans, it could be better. I am thinking of modding it soon with ...

Topic: do hard drives work in a vacuum?

For reference, YES the heads will crash and tear your disk apart if it is to run in a vacuum, because of the fact they rely solely on air to stay suspended just a few tenths of a millimeter above the surface (by the moving air buffer created by the spinning disks). Perhaps with a partial vacuum this...
