My experience with two Arctic Cooling Pro TC fans at stock 12v are that they are extremely quiet...EXCEPT for an incessant ticking noise from the bearings, which can easily be heard over the rest of the fan noise. I do find, however, that the fan on my Arctic Cooling 4 TC HSF does not exhibit this t...

Hey CompMan, you didn't order that AMD special bundle w/ a 3200+, Asus K8V SE Deluxe, FarCry and T-shirt by any chance, did you? :D I got that one, and it also has a Venus 7+ as you mentioned. I'm thinking of getting an 80 to 70mm fan adapter and mounting an arctic cooling fan on it. Does anybody kn...

I noticed on SVC's website that the Seasonic Precise 300W's model number is 'SS-300FS R3'. Could this be an indication that this part uses the same rev 3 fan controller as the A3 editions of the Super Silencers and Tornados? Or am I just being too optimistic? Any first-hand experiences with th...

Just an update on this thread, I got some Stretch Magic at Michael's today and the cashier scannned a coupon at the register that gave me 40% off the price, making it $1.49 before tax for a 3m 1.8mm spool. I'm not sure how long this discount will last, nor what locations are participating, but if an...

Does this seem a little overboard to anyone? Since I'm building a new Athlon 64 box I think I might try it out just for kicks.

A great quiet (at least out of all the ones I've used) wireless keyboard is on sale at Staples for $10 this week. The buttons are a sort of interesting shape, but it doesn't seem to interfere with typing at all (except for the strange placement of the backwards slash key). It also comes with a wirel...

How in the world do you have a 80GB 75GXP? The "75" in the model number indicates the maximum storage capacity for that particular line...in the case of the 75GXP, 75GB. Of course I guess you can never discount the freak occurance every now and then, whether by mislabling or whatnot, but I wou...

Compared to any drive with FDB bearings it is not in the LEAST bit "quiet". While the idle whine is not as high pitched or piercing, it has a strong grainy quality to it, which was even clearly audible over my old 30+ dB case. I'd hate to have to listen to it now with my ultra quiet <20dB box. :shoc...

Thanks for the link jamoore, I'll keep it in mind when summer comes around, though with 45C load temps right now I'm not terribly worried. As to the 92mm fan I simply removed it for a push-pull configuration did not seem very efficient (as outlined by MikeC), it was also sucking valuable air away fr...

Well, after using a NAV scan to test out the upper temperature of the drive, I was shocked to discover that it hit around a maximum of 54C! Naturally I decided this was no good, so I opened up the case again and sat in front of it, contemplating my next move. Finally I decided to remount the drive i...

Yeah, I already read that article, which is what first gave me the idea of sidesinks for my HD. However, it is not stated where the materials can be obtained, nor how to attach them to the drive (such as by drilling screw mounts perhaps, which I have no knowledge of)? By the way, how does the suspen...

Alright, I removed the piece of cardboard that I was using to spread the weight of the drive and now my temp is about 46C, which seems acceptable for now. Well, the fans are still louder than the HD idle noise as far as I can tell, for I have now summed up the courage to suspend the drive! :) I used three lengths of elastic belting tied in loops to the 5.25 drive bay mounting rack, with a piece of corrugated cardboard across the bottom to protect the ...
