Fan direction/orientation for Ultra-120 Extreme

I have the Ultra-120 Extreme mounted north-south on my GA-P35-DS4 mobo, such that the case exhaust fan, ultra-120 and its attached fan are in an "oreo cookie" configuration. I just want to be sure about fan directions here. The case fan label faces out (i.e. on the grill side) so it exhausts the war...

If the problem is the Athlon 1400's inherent power consumption causing the PSU circuitry to step up, I don't see how ducting air off the sink will affect the PSU in any way. I am getting good airflow now and the temps are not a problem. I suppose I will do nothing for a bit and wait until some solid...

My Athlon 1400/Asus A7M266 mobo runs 30C/29C cpu/mobo under normal load and about 47C/30C under gaming loads. I consider those temps very acceptable. I use a Panaflo L1A 80mm intake front/low on the case, the same for exhaust rear/high, a Thermalright SLK800/with Panaflo on top. I run the fans at 12...

I might consider cutting out the grill on this case (Antec 2600), although it's fairly open compared to some others I have seen. I mounted the PSU with simple rubber washers between it and the case on the inside. Modding the PSU itself I would not consider doing for safety reasons (if that's what yo...

Disappointed w/Nexus-3000 -> so what next?

I really was expecting much more with this PSU in terms of quiet, after having read everything about it. I am just wondering if I have totally misunderstood all the discussion of decibel levels. Is AIRFLOW noise implicitly included when we talk about sound levels of PSUs? No, it doesn't buzz or hiss...

Look like the Zalman ZM50-HP won't fit my Gainward G3. There is a small daughter card on the video card itself, running parallel to the vid card and extending about 1/3 of the way from the connecting edge. This small add-on card provides the TV out signal. Now, even though the daughter card does com...

Can a Zalman ZM17CU cool my Gainward Geforce3 ?

I have an older Gainward "Powerpack" G3. It just a G3, not the Ti series. I want to keep using the card but I MOST DEFINITELY want to take off the fan and stomp on it until it breaks (lol). Can I cool this puppy with just the Zalman ZM17CU and no fan? Looks much simpler and cheaper than their heat p...

All things being equal, steel is preferable to aluminum for noise. A small solid steel box with low impedance to airflow (ie, open grills) is probably best for your needs. Then use every trick & technique we describe here & you'll have a virtually silent PC. Yeah that Antec Sonata piano black minit...

Re: So glad I found this site and my sordid story

I can totally understand the reasons for wanting fast compilations and so on, but one thing that's allways puzzled me is why so many gamers want a very high FPS. If the monitor runs at 85 Hz, I can understand that you want at least 85 FPS and so on, but AFAIK few people have monitors in the 125 Hz ...

So glad I found this site and my sordid story

I am so thrilled to see a site like this, chock full of great information. I have no particular questions to ask, but I do want to share my experiences. I have been integrating my own pc's since way back in the 286/386 days-- I never buy off-the-shelf computers, like most of you here. Noise was neve...
