Just the panflow M made a signifigant difference in noise level. I have been unable to locate a local source for 40x40x10 that would be more suatable than the fan that's in there. Snipping the restrictive grilll should make a big differnece too, but I wanted to see what I could get away with before ...

The thread is called shuttle and should be in the cases forum. They suggested an adda fan, but unfortunatly my local CompUSA did not carry the fan as suggested. I tries both a Panflow L and M and felt much more comfortable with the M. My mother got the package today and was estatic with the performa...

At 17 watts I think it would be a good idea to have a fan of some sort. Any 5v 80mm fan should do just fine and be almost completly inaudible. Without the fan you run the risk of killing the CPU in a blaze of glory.

As a ( seemingly ) easier fix for the PS ventilation problem I'm going to add some plastic guides for the airflow on the PS side of the case. The guides will extend off the powersuply down and over to the edges of the case. This was more of the ventiation from that side of the case should go right t...

I was thinking of getting some semi-elastic cording ( ~2mm wide ) Tying a knot in one end and string ing it through the fan assembly with some sort of rubber spacers. Then all you need to do is achor the other end and you are done... I'll try it out and post pictures if it works. I was also seriousl...

Unless you are a EE I would doubt it.

It's missing -12, -5, 3.3 and SB ability. I think you money would be better spent on some big HS's and some fan control suplies.

What about a split.... Make 1 file server out of a cheap MB + celeron + HD's and keep it in another room. 100mb ethernet is 10x faster than DVD so that shouldn't be too much of a problem. This would cut down on alot of noise and cooling requirements ( assuming you have a place to hide it ) overall i...

Personally I would not think it's worth it. Just get yourself some wire ties and coil it up neatly once installed. Just seems like there are too many things to go wrong.

Grills are in the way of the airflow and therefore affect the noise and ammount of air that a fan can "push". I'm sure someone will chime in with a more extensice answer, but here is my undersatnding at this point. Restrictive stamped or laser cut fans means more air turbulance, more noise, and less...

Cool... I'll have to hit CompUSA this week and find that. For 10-12 it's worth it since the shipping would be that much anyways. I have a SB51G that i'm working on right now for my mother. The panflow M & L1a's are on their way ( will choose whichever works best ). I have a Cuda IV 80GB and so far i...

I'm building a silent PC for my mother. She will be using it in the same office as her massage thereapy buisness so it's got to be unobtrusive. When she came to me ans asked me to build a PC ( got a nice budget of 2k ). I asked her if she would want small and quiet and she was estatic about the idea...
