Long shot, but don't know if anyone has the Creative Inspire T10 speakers. Perhaps it's because it's the UK model, but one review of the *T20* mentioned a humming sound from the transformer. Be interested to know if there is any noise/hum from the T10, since it apparently is cheaper than the T20, si...

Thanks thejamppa, I take it those speakers are absolutely silent (on and off) when no music is transmitted? Oh and just to reiterate, I don't want the bass to be overpowering if possible. The Logitech X-230 for instance 'suffers' from a giant speaker and two 'tiny' ones, so the midrange is disregard...

I'm looking to buy a pair of speakers, to replace our old ones. The reason why (which no one has mentioned strangely enough) is because they make a hum (low freq sine wave type sound) while on, and even when off. Are there any speakers which don't give off any extra buzz/whine/noise, or maybe all mo...

Air conditioning/cooling for home PC use
I know it's not strictly part of a PC setup, but it's getting very toasty in the UK these days, with temps passing 30c. It's all part of the experience, and it will also help to cool the PC down, so I was just wondering what the most silent air conditioning unit / home cooler was. I will be in the s...

Hmm.. so would SpeedFan, (or my ASUS fan software) not be able to additionally control the fan? I might give it a chance, though regarding which pin on the 4-pin connector I leave out - is there any easy way to tell? Perhaps it'll say PWM on the thing... Also, the other connector of the fan controll...

Converting 3-pin fan controller to accept 4-pin fan?
I've just bought a CPU fan controller. Problem is it only seems to accept 3 pins (my CPU fan's connector edge requires 4 pins).
I was wondering how safe/practical it would be to force the two together? It would mean breaking off a bit of the plastic on the fan controller connector for one thing...

Thanks thought as much - a bit depressing to hear. Perhaps there are other ways to skew the data, but the @1m bit is the most important it would seem. Interestingly, even when honest measurements are given (such as the brilliant Nexus Value 430 PSU ), they still don't mention @1m. SPCR on the other ...

dba (always at 1 metre?)
Simple question which I should know really: Whenever companies give ratings in dba for hard drives, PSUs etc., does that always means at a distance of 1 metre unless otherwise specified?

Received the Nexus Value 430 PSU today. ******EDIT******** They've updated it with 4 SATA connectors (instead of 2 which was mentioned in the review): ****************** Eager to hear the acoustic sig, at first, I plugged everything together, and then artificially stopped the CPU fan. Great I though...

Just bought mine, and am looking forward to the arrival! *Thankyou* SPCR. With PSUs like this, they're going to become a commodity soon - and that's a very good thing. Things like monitors and speakers, and especially CPUs and hard drives can always get bigger/better and progress up the tech tree. B...

Review of Intel Q6600 Quadcore CPU?
Hi all, From what I can gather, the Intel Core 2 family of CPUs seem to be very popular, and ones like the Q6600 Quadcore (G2 stepping) I have seem to be very power/heat efficient. Maybe I'm overrating the popularity, or perhaps there are other reasons, but how come SPCR hasn't reviewed these CPUs i...

Fanless PSU in a Q6600 quadcore system
I've totalled up the watts, and apparently, the maximum will be 225 watts (with GPU, CD/HD drives etc.) My CPU is the excellent Intel Q6600 quadcore with G0 stepping (multitasking is a dream on this). It's very efficient compared to most CPUs I think. It comes with the stock Intel heatsink+fan. I us...
