Just to add my 2 cents.
Having case fans in the front can also cause turbulence and leave more pockets of dead air inside. Or force air where it's not needed - like the bottom back of the case.

I took a closer look at Anandtech's article and found the difference bigger than I originally thought -- 10C. It's a bit hard to believe though. A rigidly mounted hdd should only be around 40-45C max during heavy seeking in a steel case. Even lower if there's a fan in front. I dunno where they got 5...

Other than fancontrol's super-duper device , or maybe a Digidoc?, I think you may need to go DIY like I did here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2842 A device like Silicon Acoustic's NoiseMagic NMT-2 has the thermister on short leads and has no adjustable settings. Your bracket idea may be similar to what was tested in this SPCR article. Neoprene may not be as good at isolating the vibration as a suspension using elastic-type materials as was done here . There are also commercially available elastomer hdd isolation mounts that may work better than straight-up ...

*checks* My A7V333 doesn't have an ATX12V connector. Does any AMD board have them? That probably means it uses up the 3.3V really fast... oops, the fuzzy picture on the asus website is playing tricks with my eyes. There aren't very many AMD 1P boards with a 12V connector. I only found 1 so far: the...

Hey Mirar, I see you've looked at my posting. From what I can tell from ASUS's website, your A7V333 seems to have an ATX12V connector. That might mean the CPU is drawing some/all its power from the 12 volt line on the PSU. That might mean your 5 volt lines is not as heavily taxed as you may think. B...

Welcome,
According to this PDF on Digikey no such thing likely exists, except for the H version. You want to look for the model number that ends in BX as the legend says. A 103.8cfm/41.8dB, there's no doubt it will be a monster for noise!
Happy shopping!

I once had a Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI 4x burner/8x reader. It had a teeny fan too. I didn't notice the noise at the time, but then again nothing was quiet in that day and age. At the time people actually thought the fan was an advantage.... who woulda thunk it? I never unplugged the fan though. Might ...

i'm no expert at WC, but I imagine that it would be pretty close either way. The air would be warmer at the back, but it should be less so for wc than ac, since most of the heat is being carried directly to the radiator rather than to the exhaust air. I'd say go with the back treatment. That way the...

I think this is the 1st review I've seen of this product that criticises it for low retension mechanism pressure. Zalman, haven't you learned from your previous mistakes yet?

Anyone seen anything else about this, or have any experience with it? Thermaltake Duct it's over at ocworkbench. If it does what they claim (eliminate the spot in the middle of a fan where no air blows onto a heatsink) this may be extremely useful with a panaflo. Of course it's designed to hook up ...

I like the cube format, but I wish the fan placement was a little better. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the mobo half it looks like the only major exhaust vent is covered in magicfleece. Even if that vent was opened, it's in a weird location and would only work sorta as an intake. I wish they lear...

Your difference in temp might be due to different fan speeds. Are you running your papst @ 12 volts or ...

That case is the one that is used in the ARM Stealth system reviewed here in the Systems section.
Good design. I'd cover the side vent though to reduce noise leakage. The lack of 2 rear vents is also a minor point against it.
