A Ninja will most likely be quieter or at least as quiet. Not to mention much cheaper

If you need completly inaudible, why don't you just put the computer in another room or a closet or something and just use an extender for the keyboard, mouse and display?

It will most likely not be dangerous at all. The fan bearing may even last a bit longer

"Totally silent" is so much more difficult and expensive than "practically inaudible". I think you can just forget a Radeon 1950 Pro in a fanless PC. Just get a notebook hard drive, a couple of Nexus fans and undervolt them, a Ninja and a Seasonic S12 or the like and you will have a practically inau...

I'd say the Ninja. I'm running my E6600 passive but a fan on it really helps with temps. I get around 35°C during normal browsing and about 8-10 °C more when loaded 100 % on both cores. During heavy load I usually turn my chassis fan, a 120 mm Scythe fan that came with the Ninja, up to full speed ...

I think you should wait until the power consumption of the 8800 GTX is known and confirmed and then buy a PSU. However, I think that S12+ is probably your best bet.

I run my E6600 with a fanless Ninja. Works perfectly in my Antec Solo. I considered making a duct of some sort but I ditched that idea since it is totally unnecessary

Yes, eight HD:s seems like terrible overkill. You know there are HD:s with up to 750 GB capacity. A few less HD:s would also reduce the need for cooling thus a few less fans.

Other than that, I agree with Neil on the stock Intel heatsink and the PSU.

Actually, it got a bit quieter when I disconnected the fan on my Ninja. The Ninja doesn't need a fan since it cools so well without one. Not that the Ninja is loud (it's on 5 V), I just think it messes up the airflow.

Thanks anyway!

Fan swap on my Tagan 430 Easyconnect

Hello. I'm contemplating doing a fan swap on my PSU (in title). Does anyone know if the fan is connected with a 3-wire, 2-wire or just soldered? Would be nice to know.
First I will check some other things before I void the warranty. It was practically silent a week ago but now it is clearly audible.
