I think the big deal here is AMD specifically optimizing a line of CPU's to run extra cool and so quieter I'd agree. Finally there seems a reasonable prospect that in the not too distant future we will see chips which can be passively-cooled in stock form and which have been specifically designed f...

The solution is simple. Buy isolationg in ear earphones like Etymotic ER6i. You can listen at much lower volumes and hear more clearly as background noise is "isolated"/reduced. People listen to thei $5 earphones so loud because they're trying to cut out background noise, the result is a static nucl...

The 2.5" size seems a great way to go. My understanding is that they're more hardy to heat compared to 3.5" also because they're designed for primarily laptops.

I think a dual-core would have attracted people to buy S754 motherboards. But with this it just gives the current S754 owners another option.

imagine a 65 nm chip built to have the power of a Semp 2600 or 2800. It could be a VERY cool running chip, quite easy to run passive. AMD may want to go for the Power U$er market and sell X2 5000 chips instead,,but they ought to recognize that there is a low heat/noise market segment too. They'd hav...
