Saw this on slashdot, thought those of you who don't frequent that site might find it humorous, particularly considering the topic of interest here at SPCR.

Now, I want to see someone who has pulled this off silently.

For this guy's purposes it probably doesn't matter how quiet his system is. Afterall, it's a flight simulator and I'll bet it's not very quiet even in the cockpit of a glider, let alone a 747!

Personally, I thought it was a wonderful idea, but what I don't understand is why he didn't go the full route and build a better cockpit to go along with it... or buy some even-more-specific peripherals? He couldn't have spent all the money on the 13(!) monitors and 9 systems? (That thought still throws my poor pocketbook into anaphylactic shock!)

Oh, and since I didn't before, allow me the chance to throw in a couple of random smilies to indicate my intent of humor. :P

At some point you would also have to wonder when it would make more sense to spend the money on flying lessons in a real airplane!

yeah, it seems like 13 monitors is a bit excessive for the lack of detail elsewhere........

I bet that he doesn't even need sound hardware... those computers will sound like You'd be in a small airplane... :D

that's the first time I'd suggest someone get a few LCD monitors.

He must not live in California or his electric bill for the airconditioning alone would be "sky high"

very cool setup though.

Cheers!
