Ew! I feel for ya. Which monitor is it by the way? I've had good luck with ViewSonics. My last 4 monitors have been ViewSonics (from 15" to a 19").

<br>You'd think that monitors wouldn't give off noise!

Well I thought this would go without saying, but apparently we've reached a new level here. I suppose his point is that he doesn't want to have to hear this really hit pitched annoyance WHILE he's using his PC.

Time to start saving for that LCD flatscreen then

My CRT buzzes too, its very annoying - mines an ADI.

one possible thing to try:

your monitor "buzz" may be occurring because it is at a bandwidth/frequency that is was not optimized for, even though it is within its specified operating specifications.

your monitor manual may list a recommended range or "sweet spot" it was designed for. this is smaller than the operating frequency/resolution usually listed with its specs. some manuals will list a "sweet spot" range, but most do not so don't be surprised if you don't see a recommended frequency/resolution. just try fiddling with different resolution and frequencies and see if your noise goes away.

if this doesn't work, or if it works but not at a resolution or frequency you're not comfortable with, then upgrade or living with the noise may be your only options left. if you plan on upgrading, don't discount CRT for LCD if noise is the only discriminating factor. next time, look for a CRT whose "sweet spot" is in the resolution/frequency range you would operate it at. and it goes without saying, if you get a chance, "test drive" it in a store if possible.
