Hi,

Some of the Hewlett Packard Vectra P4 PC's are offered at discount prices over here. (less than US$1000 for a Vectra Vl420 Se Mt P4-1900 256mb 40gb R128-32mb Dvd Ln Wxp-pro, no monitor)

As they are advertised as very quiet due to their "Ultraflow" cooling mechanism, I'm considering buying one of these low-spec bare-bones as a start-off point for a quiet pc.

Any thoughts on that?

Selected models of the Vectra vl420 and e-pc 42 models have low dBA specs, under 30. They are probably fairly quiet. Chec specs at HP on the particular model & config before you buy.
