Yeehaw, got a new heatsink = larger, slower fan... now my system is so quiet, I can hear the grills causing turbulence! Out come the tin snips!

Well that's where the 10% comes in. Just got a Swiftech MCX462-U, with some crap-ass 80mm on it. Gonna squeese a 92mm L1A on there, get an 80mm L1A intake in front, and if I dont take out the second fan in my PSU, ill replace both with L1As. Still some testing to do.

Get it as quiet as you can first, then look at foam. The foam's fairly expensive, and it won't hide everything. You're better off using it to silence an already quiet box.

Get the melamine foam from McMaster-Carr. This link takes you to the site. Use the search bar and enter "melamine ceiling tile". Then scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see "melamine foam sound absorbing ceiling tiles".

Although probably not as good as the AcoustiPack, it is a hell of a lot more reasonable in price ($2.95 for a 24'' by 24''). It is EASY to work with, fits exceptionally well in the recesses of the case, looks good, easily mounts with friction (no adhesive required, which also means it can be easily rearranged or removed), and does help to absorb sound and vibrational noises.

It doesn't silence, but I think its a great modification when used with other recommendations at this site.
