One step closer

Got my box of Panaflos today, and took to retooling the pc. What a difference!!! :D :D :D

I replaced the stock HS fan with a bracketed L1a with an air duct / shroud around the stock athlon HS. Added another L1a case fan blowing over the suspended HDD. I haven't changed out the PSU fan yet from the 7v one already there. Case and CPU temps have remained similar, but the HDD have dropped an astounding 12C!!! to 32C I can deal with that!

As you can tell I'm pleased with the results. I can still hear some HDD whine but an enourmous improvement. Thanks to everyone here, this forum has been invaluable to my hearing!

I'll second that! Haven't felt so calm for ages :)
My HD was pretty hot too (44C),and I couldn't find any suitable
aluminium bits to use as heatsinks,so I dug out two P2 heatsinks I had
lying around and taped them on the sides of the HD.It looks ridiculous,
but it's dropped the temps to 39C :) The HD's lying on some foam in
the bottom of the case.
