<shrugs> I wonder how much power the active noise cancellation circuitry/speaker uses..which turns into heat...which means higher fan rpm.... :D

I'd think you'd have to be within a certain distance and probably within a certain orientation for this to work. Too close, too far, too off-angle, and the cancelation won't work. Not good if your main issue is that you leave the PC on 24/7 and don't want to hear it from across the room. Although, maybe the idea is dispersion, not cancellation. With dispersion the idea would be to just make the sound into broadband noise, not reduce the overall intensity. That would work great from across the room, but probably be annoying from up close. Seems simpler to just use better quality case materials and fans than employ active noise reduction, though . . .
