Hyperthreading = Cooler CPU@idle?
Hmmm
I have a P4 2.8c that is overcloked.
Anyway it idles at pretty low temps, and it made me wonder, because according to Asusprobe and MBM it idles at around 30 degrees in XP, but when in the bios page the temps are around 40 degrees. But when I boot into XP, the temp starts at 40 degrees and then starts to drop back to 30 degrees at idle.
But then shoot back up under a period of time udner load.
Now when I disable Hyperthreading and boot into XP the idle temps stay at 40 degrees...
anyone notice this?

well mine is more than a couple of degrees cooler!
right now my CPU is idling at 27 degrees! And it's overclocked from 2.8 to 3.5 gigahertz. Motherboard is at 26 degrees. Ambient is around 15-17 degrees. And all my fans are running at 5 volts and under in my Sonata. PSU modded with Pananflo M 80mm.
Hyperthreading is pretty amazing.

We use Celsius here in Sweden too (The scale was acually invented by a swede, Anders Celsius). I still think it is very cold, even when the temp is in Celsius. I went to Australia last year, and when I come to think of it, you guys don't have radiators now, do you? AC is far more common. Opposite to Sweden, here everyone has radiators, no one has AC.
we have both
We do have seasons here, it goes from cold to very hot and dry. Summer is in december and winter in the middle of the year - yeah it is weird
It actually hit 8 degrees this morning - brrrr. Probably at 12-14 right now. CPU idling at 25 degrees, MotherBoard at 23 at the moment. Both my Seagate Barra IV at 24 each
It's great that the Barracuda IVs have an inbuilt temp sensor.

Well, to say that you don't have radiators might have been an overstatement. But AC is still much more common, right? I spent most of my time in Brisbane (Hear the Mighty Lions roar...), which doesn't get as cold as Sydney, that might have been the reason to why I said that about the radiators.
[Really really OT] When is THE world championship starting, isn't it soon?
