From Dijital Center in Turkey. I suppose they import from Europe. List price was $55 + VAT, got it for 40$ + VAT (Either they love me so or the guy made a mistake :) )

Was looking at this page: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article_index.php#cooling and clicked on the link for the XP-90 review but got the wrong article. It's linking to the Coolermaster Ultra Vortex HSF review (article 192) instead of the XP-90 one (article 194).

I found mine at a well equiped hardware store. I was a little surprised that they had some, but just take your original screws and the mounts and look for some that are about 3mm longer (I believe that's what I got). - FG

another question, sorry

Hey Frank,

Thanks for the info. A question I forgot to ask, how does the XP-90 do on cooling a Prescott 3.4 775 socket?

fine

A,

It does fine. I eventually got an xp-120 not because the xp-90 wasn't able to cool well, but just so I could use a nexus 120. Now all of my fans are the same size. - FG

Before you install yours be sure to read some of the other posts about the best way to apply the TIM and locking the clips, etc.. It takes a lot of pressure to intall the xps so you want to be careful.

Hey Frank

Thanks for the headsup on the need for longer screws for Asus motherboards. I couldnt find any in my small town, but knew a place in Austin that would have metric screws. I would have been very frustrated if I hadnt read your post. Installation was a breeze with the right screws. So far so good with the XP-90

I also have a question for anyone. My motherboard (P5AD2-E Premium) has a four pin connector on the motherboard for the CPU fan. I cant find a fan with a 4 pin (small one, not like a power supply four pin) connector so I can plug it directly into the motherboard for monitoring. Anybody been able to find a fan like that?

Thanks again Frank.

David

A,

You can plug the three pin into the 4 pin mb connector. Imagine you are looking at the board with the cpu at the top. Connect the three pin connector on the fan to the left 3 pins. I think there is a tab that will line everything up. My board is P5GD2 so I'm assuming yours in similar. - FG

I just connected a new cpu fan today so I remember exactly what you are wondering about.

Cooling fan

well, I finally found a four pin fan. I was at Fry's and they had a fairly cheap Thermaltake Jungle 512 775 heatsink with a good fan. $30. Using that fan with the XP-90 I am getting very good cooling. I havent gone over 50 C yet.

Thanks for your help Frank.

Missing K8 shroud from XP-90

I got my XP-90 today, and the K8 adapter is missing. Seems Thermalright may have some packaging issues... The dealer is refusing to take a return just for that, and suggests to contact Thermalright directly. Let's hope for the best. :(

Also, I found out on Thermalright's website that for K8 Gigabyte motherboards one has to order a special metal plate to replace the plastic one on the back of the motherboard. This interisting info is not noted on their install instructions, just on the FAQ for the XP-90 (not the FAQ for XP-90C nor the one for XP-120).

I hope the heatsink performs as well as the reviewed one, because so far the dealer/Thermalright duo has been a disappointment. :x

At a minimum, I'd suggest you never use that dealer again. "Just for that" assumes that everything except for the XP-90 itself is a bonus.

XP-90 missing shroud

It's working out better than I expected. Thermalright sales is sending me the missing shroud and the backplate for $3. I should be in business soon... :)

In case anyone's still wondering, it's the XP-90RT, a "retail package" version which includes a fan and is featured on Thermalright's own web pages right here.
