Phenom II stock cooler (mod)

Post by wtouist » Sun Mar 27, 2011 10:08 am

Enjoyed the Phenom stock cooler article. The last post being some time ago I started this thread.
A hello is called for, a new member, enjoy being here.
Since I have several Phenom II coolers on hand, and several fans, and have acquired some 120 mm to 80 mm fan adapters, and lacking good sense and a sense of proportion I am attempting to make these heatsinks more useable. possibly..
Sooo. Have glued an adapter to the shrould holding the fan. Strong enough it appears.
Mounting a fan works well enough, using noise isolation mounting (gasket type)
What I would like to know, if anyone does, some ides of the fan specifications to move sufficient air.
I have some Yate Loon D12BL-12, D12SL-12, D12SM-12, Nexus Real Silent 500-2000 rpm PWM, Zalman-F3, Gelid Silent 12 PWM, some generic whatevers.
The Nexus seems to work well (Athlon II X3 440), but I like to do two more without buying another Nexus.
Difficult to judge value added.
Article implies a capable 95 watt cooler when given adaquate air flow. Or so I see it Current case is Rosewill Challenger with Yate Loon fans, seems quiet enough.
Any comments appreciated, thanks.
