Is that different from the "17" Apple iMac - The Official SPCR Review" Devon published last week ?

Also the list needs some updates :
- Quiet & fanless gaming vidcards from Asus, Gigabyte, etc
- Asus EAX1600XT - passive vid card
- Antec NSK2400 - mATX HTPC case

I think these three have been done under these articles name :
- Fanless PCIe Graphics Cards from Asus and Aopen
- Gigabyte GV-N66256DP Fanless Graphics Card
- Antec NSK2400 Media PC Case

I'm dying in wait for the VRM article. Hopefully an in-depth, never covered before, crucial component article from SPCR.
For those interested, that topic was slightly covered in "Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe A64-939 Motherboard", specifically on page 5 and 6 : "EIGHT PHASE POWER EFFICIENCY" even though it turns out the difference in power consumption might have been more impacted by the SLI chipset than the VRMs.

It'd be cool if SPCR could review the ABIT AN8 32X. PCPer reviewed it and came to a surprising conclusion: the NF4 SLI 32X chipset is not that power consuming after all. The Asus A8N32 just sucks power like a mofo!

Interesting eh?

MikeC: I think your put tthe fanless video cards under the wrong articles section; You put it under Misc reviews, but you have a separate Audio/Video section, so maybe those reviews should go under there instead?

If tested alongside the ABIT AT8 32X it would give a direct comparison between the NVidia & ATI chipsets consumption/heat output too.

How about a roundup of hdd enclosures? This will respond to all the people asking themselves which one to put they money in. It can be something simple, without actualy reviewing them in detail. Just get 5-6-7 enclosures in the same room with the same drive and measure the idle/seek sound and the temperatures so we will have a nice chart that will settle the confusion.
Potential candidates :
New box from Scythe along with the old one, to see if they actually have something better :)
Nexus Drive-A-Way
mCubed Vertical Silence
Silentmaxx Aluminium Hard Drive Enclosure
The smartdrive 2002c and any other box that may be worth it and i haven't mentioned.

Well, what do you say?

It'd be nice to have a look at the Antec NSK6500 as it's a pretty big midtower for only $110 incl PSU. That backplane puts me in mind of Lx6a19 but the HDD mount couldnt be more different.

In the meantime you can look at this review, done by a French website. I didn't read it yet, but generally they do a decent job even though their main focus is not noise. They even tested the NSK4400 and NSK6500 alongside on page 7, to compare cooling and noise performance. I guess you can figure out how to use Google's translator if needed.

The upcoming article/review list hasn't been updated in a long time, can we have an expected release date for the VRM cooling article ?

Is there a review of the Antec Fusion in the works?

Jeff Haas wrote:Is there a review of the Antec Fusion in the works?
Yes, but I can tell you right now: In terms of noise and thermal functionality it is the same as the NSK2400. We will end up looking at the differences between the two -- which are cosmetic.

Thanks. That's what I'm really interested in...should I get the 2400 or the Fusion? So the questions are: How readable is the VFD from a distance? How does the VFD interface with the operating system? (I use Beyond TV, can I connect it to the VFD?) How does the volume control interface? How is the DVD drive concealed? Etc. etc.

I'm looking forward to the Seasonic S12-80+ - PSU review VERY much. Will be interesting to see the effects the higher efficiency has on noise. Also I'm wondering if the "soft-mounting rubber cushions" will make any difference. I'm 99% the new Seasonic S12 Energy+ 650 (80PLUS certified) will replace my S12-600 the moment it arrives. :)

If your S12-600 is the version with sleeved cables, it should have the "soft-mounting rubber cushions", it's not a new feature. In fact, even the SS series had the soft-mounting, at least the 400W model, and somewhere in the jumble of Seasonic PSU-threads I believe it was claimed that it had always been a feature of Seasonic PSUs.

My S12-600 is not of the new revision with sleeved cables. I bought mine just a few months before the new revision arrived. I can't remember seeing anything about "soft-mounting rubber cushions" on my "old" model, but I don't really keep track of everything either, so I could be completely wrong. If the old revision didn't have the rubber cushings, would this improvement make a big difference?

Since you reviewd the 500GB WD5000KS, will you review the 250GB model too?

i forgot where that section is that talks about what information to give manufacturers to send samples to SPCR, but i found an enclosure that i think would do very well.

Power supply airflow is completely independant of case airflow like MikeC suggests is the prefered method. Small footprint but still holds a full atx case. Steel enclosure, 120mm exhaust fan.

Could someone be so kind that they shed some light on the status of the Be Quiet! PSU review? Please? ;)

Pretty pretty please with cream on top? :D

I would even appreciate the info that it's not coming anytime soon, should that be the case..

Will there be a review on Antec 900? Probably not the quietest case out there, but looks like a cool dust catcher.

I'd like to see a proper review of this one. Some early user reports (a very small sample of two) are reporting possible issues with the top backplane slot when using video cards. I'll wait until I see a 'real review' though.
EDIT: It seems there will be a revised version soon to solve the issue.

I'd love to read a SPCR review of the NZXT Adamas case.
Thick aluminium and somewhat low noise structure. Restrictive inlets but that's easily fixed. :)

At $1.90 to the pound it would be a not unreasonable ~£90.

However, we tend to see prices in pounds equal to the doller price (I suspect the same is true of most places in Europe) and at that price it is expensive :(
