I'm thinking a de-framed fan on a Velcro pad reinforced with zip ties.

The all-copper one is selling for $29.99 after rebate at newegg. This puts it as the BEST cooler for $30 or less I'm thinking.

I using a BTF90 to cool the Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane CPU in my newly-upgraded MythTV PVR. Other than when the BIOS momentarily spins the fan up to full speed during POST, I can't hear the fan over the idle noise from the drives at the default BIOS low fan speed setting. Even so, the cooling is total overkill. At the current ~20C ambient temperature, the CPU is idling at 28C. I've seen the CPU temperature get all the way up to 34C during commercial flagging when the room was a couple degrees warmer.

When I find some spare time, I'll see if I can slow the fan down more in the BIOS.

Running the BTF95 passive in my wife's system. Core 2 Duo 6420, works good.
