That's quite impressive electrical performance (the efficiency, especially) for a brand like Ultra. I was a bit surprised in that respect, but the noise output was to be expected from a PSU aimed at gamers.

They're improving, which is good. I'm still concerned about the lack of basic UL and FCC approval, though.

Good review... I like the new ripple testing. I managed to get my hands on one of these too - haven't heard any whistling from mine yet. Then again, I'm not pushing it too hard either.

Andyson actually - says as much in the review

Oh bugger. The color of the case and the heatsink design is very much like topower, and both are taiwanese as far as i know. A quick search for andyson says it's the same manufacturer that makes the Hiper Type-R, others seem to be at least Cooler Master, Aerocool and Sunbeam.. So it's pretty much like ToPower, if you order crap you get it, if you kow what to order they will make a good PSU.

A UL search brings up a little more information about the real manufacturer of the fan - Young Lin Tech Co LTD. Their web site — http://www.yltc.com.tw/ — appears to be inoperative

The big UL logo and FCC logos on the box and label begs to differ.

I've never seen an Ultra, or 95% of the PSU's out there for that matter, "lack" basic UL and FCC approval.

Deer and Powmax is about the only brand I can think of that doesn't have UL approval on all of their units. But even some of those have UL and FCC.
