Eco PC Review has an article on EPEAT, the Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool funded by the EPA.EPEAT is a tool to help buyers identify environmentally friendlier computer equipment, and to encourage manufacturers to develop greener IT products. It's a "green mark" program for computing products launched in June 2006, the first in the US, and it's had the backing of the White House since January. Virtually every major PC brand is represented: HP, Dell, Lenovo, Apple, Sony, Gateway, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Sona, MPC, Northern Micro, and CTL. EPEAT ranks products into three categories -- bronze, silver and gold. Long overdue, not without flaws but still a welcome start.

Very nice start indeed.

Looking forward to see how this develops.
