Happy Birthday! It's been pretty awesome to watch SPCR become one of the more respected review sites. I can only say I wish I'd found out about it sooner.

Let's hope for 8 more years of silent computing at least

Well done SPCR.

My own experience of the SilentQuest (PC game anyone ?) is that usage is now split among more than 1 PC and more than 1 location.

There's the every day PC - only one moving part - a slow fan - with a SSD system drive and everything else in a NAS 2 floors away.

And there's the heavy lifter PC - still quiet but with 4 fans, another SSD and a 1TB Samsung in an appropriate quiet box.

Every day PC is MiniITX/small case ; Heavy lifter is ATX/tower case.

Common to SPCR alumni ?

Thank you Mike, and the rest of the team and forum regulars.

I've only know of your site for about 3 of the 8 years, still it changed my perception of what a computer is or should be.

Anechoic chamber is a leap in review site history. Scientific grade audio testing is unique to this site, as far as I know. Adding your experienced subjective opinion seals the deal.

Please keep doin what you do

Happy Birthday/Anniversary

Congrats to Mike and SPCR for eight years of being THE source of thoughtful, exhaustive reviews of computer gear with an ear towards the quiet side of life - I wouldn't have successfully built several quiet rigs without your guidance!

Most people don't know that SPCR was started as an April's Fools joke.

Congrats Mike, hope you have a quiet one. :D

It speaks a thousand words to say this is the only PC forum I've ever gotten into. PC noise drove me mad ever since I was a kid and wrapped the family's Pentium 100 in a huge blanket. I'm very happy with what I've achieved for myself and others around me, and have the good people of this site to thank.

I do.

The nick I have now is not the one I started here with. I am sincerely older.
the rage has calmed down alot over the years..this place helped no doubts...

Today, I was approached by a crazy woman (true story), while backing into a parking spot.Rambling on, she made no sense... she was lying of course about her dying mother in boston...but the dollar she asked for was given. Great act for a crazy person.
I will be donating here for different crazy reasons.

As a long time lurker, just wanted to sign up to add my thanks!

There are far too many sites focused on the big rigs with the big benchmarks. Yours serves what I reckon a more important role - making it bearable to actually sit near the big rig in daily life!

Hello Mike and everyone
