BQE intake mod

Post by miyagi » Mon Jan 17, 2005 11:02 am

a little bit ghetto, but not really noticable unless you're close and it's lit up.

replaced the stock mesh with some fiber screen material from the home depot. wasn't really looking to improve it, but i burned a hole in the standard mesh with a lighter.

bit dusty, this is a few months worth though.

tore out the drive cage a while ago and stuck in a 120mm from Antec, runs very quietly at 12v.

Hello:

Have you considered blocking the notch at the bottom of the front bezel -- so that more of the intake air comes through the screen? As long as you have such a free breathing intake, why not try and limit the dust that makes it into the case, and thereby reducing the buildup on the heatsinks and fan blades?!

it's not really an issue for me at the moment, i usually check and clean the case every few months. the VGA silencer looked a bit dusty, but the SLK-800 seemed pretty clean - although i have the fan sucking, not blowing.

the BQE is getting replaced on monday anyway, gotta figure out what to do with it.
