So basically I'm a freak on silence. I use only Nexus fans because Vantec Stealth suck, and Nexus is even quieter than Panaflo. The only ones that come close are Papst, or SilenX.

Anyways, I have a 92mm Nexus on the CPU. That's it. The PSU had a 80mm, but I stuck some resistors in it and I guess I gave it too much - the fan won't spin up now. No problem. I have no intake. I do have a 120mm exhaust, but I turned it off using Speedfan. GPU is passively cooled using an NB cooler. NB has the fan unplugged.

Anyways, with only one 92mm fan, I'm in heaven on noise. I have a 7200.7 Barracuda that's suspended and my case is an Antec Sonata.

My temps are: 122F (50C) CPU, 104F (40C) Case, 116F (47C) HDD.

The system has been on 24/7 for a week now. My CRT monitor is louder than the PC.

What do you think?

So far I counted two fans: one CPU fan and one exhaust... So which is it, one or two? Also, it's a really bad idea to run PSU fanless as they fail easily.

CPU only. The exhaust is off by default, it's there as a fail safe if my CPU overheats and then it will turn on.

Pics will come later. I have problem sets due tommorow. :)

Actually it's not much to look at. Just like any other system with a CPU and Exhaust fan, just that the exhaust doesn't move. :)

Hmm.. I was going to set it at 3V, but I over resisted it. I'll fix it sometime, I guess. :)

Guess I missed the part in your original post where you said you turned your exhaust fan off.

However the main thing I want to say is that you really do need to cool both your PSU and your HDD. They just can't handle high temperatures as well as say CPU/GPU/memory, so they are very prone to fail if inadequately cooled.

They suck and blow, at the same time! (Just like windows  I wonder if anyone will get the refecence) Even at 1500rpm they're obscenely loud, they're garbage compared to half as expensive ZMF1's, nevermind having to compare them to Panaflos and Nexuses.

Yep, your HDD temps are definitely are on the high side. After all, losing all your data is much worse (and probably more expensive) than blowing an overheated PSU/CPU.

Open up some intake holes near the HDD. As long as you have one exhaust (even if it's only the PSU fan) and a completely sealed case, you will get enough air being sucked into the intake past the HDD.
