Amd Athlon xp 2600+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
2 x Kingston 512MB DDR400
Palit GF4 6600GT AGP
Seagate Barracuda IV 80GB
Samsung SATA 160GB
Nexus 400W NX-4090

I have had about this kind of system for a long time. Only the Graphics card has been changed (before I had passively cooled Ti4200).

The case is Compucase CI-6919 Black. I like to have everything black. The reason why I chose this case, is that it's designed for 120mm fans.

Here's picture from inside. The black thing at surfaces is about 4mm thick heavy stuff.

Image
CPU cooler is Thermalright SK-7 with classical Panaflo L1A. It runs maybe at 6-7V.

Image
Zalman VF700-CU with Zalman fanmate taped together. More about this at here: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=28030. It keeps sometimes annoying ticking noise and I think it comes from fan motor. There's no way that baldes are touching the copper part.

Image
I have only one chassis fan and it's at back. Maybe someone can remember this one? It runs @ 5V.

Image
Side panel got that 4mm black heavy stuff and also 20mm soft stuff.

My drives. Samsung got this. You can see some information about that at here. Seagate got ZM-2HC2, which I don't that it's efficient enough. But Level HDD Shell is great and it costed only 40€.

wow the zalman w/all those heatpipes performed worse - even mounted at the bottom. if you can please add the temps on those two drives.

Seagate with Zalman: 35°C
Samsung with Level HDD SHELL II: 29°C

But when I said that Zalman is not efficient enough, I meant that it does not insulate all resonanse noises.

EDIT:
After couple of hours intensive gaming, temperatures are like this:
Seagate with Zalman: 45°C
Samsung with Level HDD SHELL II: 43°C

Pretty similar hardware that i used to have, same mobo, psu, cpu... :) I also used 4mm bitum and that foam thing. The bitum is fantastic, makes a flimsy panel feel like concrete 8)

I also have a few of those HDD Shells, the old one though, and they are probably the most effective coolers available. The sides touch the heatsinks and the heatsinks are the biggest i´ve seen on any hdd cooler. Its not the best at reducing noise, but since it cools so well its possible to line the inside of the case with thick foam to make it inaudible :)

And the zalman is pretty much no good, yes it has a lot of heatpipes but the pipes dont have anything to transfer the heat to

And take some zip-ties and clean up those cables man, take an asennuskalja and get on with it
