My SilverStone SFF -- Watercooled and Fanless
Almost finished! Just need to swap out the Raptor for a solid state hard-drive and this baby will be dead quiet (at least for me).

They can only dissipate heat if there is air moving over them (ignoring radiation which is minimal at these temps). Obviously there will be small convection currents, but they are a lot more effective with forced airflow.PopCorn wrote:the heat sinks on the video card still help because they still pull away heat form them and then dissipate the heat....
That is one of the weakpoints. The video card starts to choke after about 20 minutes of gaming, so I need to upgrade those sinks. Zalman actually makes a waterblock for the VRAM, but unfortunately it doesn't work for that card (it's pretty old). I'll either have to fashion my own or modify Zalman's.spookmineer wrote:Nice build, but if there are no fans whatsoever, how much good will the RAM heatsinks do on the video card?
Nope, the old version. It works just fine for me, but I'm not much of a gamer. Just the occasional EQ2 session.vincentfox wrote:Is that a new-model Reserator? How is it working for you?
Specs:
Intel Mobo for Pent D
Pent D 805
Silverstone Fanless PSU
1gb PC3200
36gb Raptor
Sapphire X550 Video Card
Next in line for upgrading is a solid state drive and the VRAM water block.
