Very Quiet Windows Home Server

Post by scemracing » Sat Feb 09, 2008 7:30 pm

I have started to build a Windows Home Server.

I am using a Silverstone KL01 Kublai steel case it is very heavy and sturdy.

Here are the other components:

Asus M2A-VM AM2 motherboard

512MB DDR2 RAM

AMD Sempron 45W LE-1100

Noctua Passive CPU cooler

Cooler Master 500W power supply with a Noctua fan installed

Right now I have a Maxtor 500GB SATAII hard drive I will be adding at least 2-3 more early next week.

I have a DVD installed right now but i will be removing that after installation of the OS

Very nice but it seems a bit much for such a lite system! 500w psu? WHS is notorious for allowing very minimal hardware requirements, I mean sub 50w systems at the wall. the solo would be a great case for a WHS with 3 drives as would the p182, which is available for $60ar right now. But like I said, nice setup you got going.

I had most of the parts already including the case and the power supply.

The only thing I actually bought was the processor (35 dollars)
