TX150 S2 rig and BEYOND! :) (UP May 31)

Post by Horgrim » Sun Nov 11, 2012 6:19 am

Hello.

After long battles and many years of searching I've finally found my dream setup: TX150 S2 case + APC 700 RM 3U UPS + Ikea LackRack :) System is dead silent, only UPS humms a little during baterry operation. Don't mind the cables, I'm not a ultra-hidden-cables type of guy.

Update!

I've managed to do some fan mounting etc. There are still some things to do like SQD mounting, foam acoustic insulation and cable management, but the overall look will be the same.

The insides od the PC:

AsRock P67 Pro
i3-2120 stock with ThermalRight HR-01 + Fractal Design 120mm fan
Gigabyte Radeon 7750 OC + AC Accelero S1 ver 2 + AC 120mm PWM fan
4x4GB of Patriot 1333 RAM
Sapphire Fire PSU 625W + Fractal Design 120mm fan
WD Blue 500GB + Samsung 750 GB both in SQD 3,5" and foam mounted
Fujitsu TX150 S2 server rack case + 2x Scythe SY1225SL12LM-P Fans
All fans are connected to M/B 3/4 Pin connectors.

At idle fans rotate at about 450-500 RPM, during heavy load they spin at 900-1000 RPM depending on the room temperature.

And now, for the photos:

To do list: Acoustic foam inside the case, maybe some i7-3770T CPU? Also, I'm thinking about some ITX web PC mounted on the shelf behind the front fan.

UPDATE!

Hello again.

After some thinking and keeping some $$ away from wife i was able to get my hands on some new hardware as well as make my own rack 3u case out of some old transformer rack case from 70s.

Current setup:

MB: AsRock H81M-DGS R2.0
CPU: Pentium G3220 @ stock cooler
GPU: integrated to CPU
RAM: 2x4GB of Kingston 9905471-006.A00LF
PSU: Fortron FSP250-60HHN with fan swapped to Scythe Gentle Typhoon
SSD: 120GB Intel 520
HDD: 2,5" Toshiba 500GB
Case: Old 3U case from 70s

System is inaudible. Only sound i can hear is stock fan at max speed for about 3-4 seconds during boot.

Enjoy the photos! :)

Also, as i can send only 3 attachments, here is a photo of my rack:
WP_20140430_013.jpg
From top to bottom:

D-Link Dir-600 as AP on a white 1U shelf - wasn't able to get my hands on any black one

Shortened Chieftec UNC-110S-B case with IPCop

Cisco SF 100-24 (SR224T-EU) Switch - bought new for about 40$

some cheap 1U brush panel with cable management plate

1U spacer (duh)

Old transformer 3U case from 70s power cubicle/cabinet - after some mods it fits ATX PC

APC SU 3U 700VA 230V - wood on the top because I wasn't able to get rid of the transformer buzzing any other way.

Best regards
