well, here it is. feedback is definately welcome. btw, let me know if the pictures are working for everybody.

btw, the changes from stock are: a zalman zm80a-hp on my gf4 ti 4400, back 120mm fan running at 5v, replaced fan in antec true power 380s with a panaflo l1a, another panaflo l1a on thermalright slk-800a running off of fan only lead, and a little bit of cable work.

Pictures work fine for me, but my God they're huge!

And I've got the same little MATX case you've got there, the one under your desk on the left. As a total aside from the point of your post I have a question about that little case: Were you able to fit a CD drive into it with either a big heatsink (like your SLK-800) or a VGA card?

i never tried to put a video card into that case, so i'm not sure. regarding heatsinks, i currently have a vantec aeroflow (read: LOUD) that barely fits under the cd-rom. given that, i'd guess that an slk-800 wouldn't even come close to fitting. it's still a work in progress, but i'm thinking that after i install the os, i'll just take it out and suspend the hard drive in that space or something.

I ended up putting a Zalman flower cooler in mine, it fits, barely, with a CD drive. I cut an intake hole over the CPU (where the little vent holes are already) to draw cool air directly in.

what'd you do about the power supply? because it is way too loud, after being spoiled by my latest machine.

I swapped out the fan for an L1A :lol I also turned it around, so it blows into the case.

how'd you get it to fit? the fan in the psu is thinner than a normal 80mm fan.

It's thinner, but there's enough empty space inside the psu for one to fit. In mine it just touches the tops of the heatsinks inside there.

Jeez dude, resize those pics, they're huge. It took me almost 2 minutes to load this page and I'm on a 1.5Mbps T-1 here. You can get them about 1/10th the size they currently are using something like Irfanview and the quality will be at least 90-95% of you huge pics.

Back on topic:

Nice job setting up your system. Everything looks real neat and tidy.

Nice System but another thing about big pics is that they don't fit on the screen unless your screen is set at 1600x1200. It would be easier to view if they were smaller.

Ralf I can understand while it took 2 min. The pics are like 850k each.

i shrunk the pics down to 800x600. thanks for the tip on irfanview, it was really easy to use to resize them.

thanks for the positive comments regarding the noise, during the day with my window open and the normal daytime noises that occur, it is completely inaudible. with my window closed during the day, there is a slight wooshing noise, which is probably the airflow of the 120mm fan. during the dead of night, the barracuda's become audible with a slight mid frequency hum, and the woosh of the fans is at about the same level as the drives. overall, i'd say it's about the quietest one can reasonably make a pc with conventional aircooling, so i'm pretty happy. maybe one day i'll go all out for completely passive cooling, but until then...
