Slight update to my P180B

Post by falcon26 » Sat Apr 19, 2008 2:22 pm

Just got finished installed my 2nd 8800GT for sli :-) And I have to admit at idle these suckers are pretty darn quiet. I have yet to see them spin up loud while gaming either. The only time their loud is when I first turn the computer on and its only for a few seconds. Will probably keep the stock cooler for now, I think it looks cool and they still cool well, 58 idle and about 68 load. But who knows maybe I'll get an artic S1 on these babies..........someday :-)

Yeah that's what I thought, but I swear they are dead quiet, their only at about 800 rpm

It looks great falcon, nice cable management too…really nice.

By the way; I swear we’ll be seeing two Accelero puppies mounted soon enough… :)

Would it be better to move your rear fan to the top of the case and block off the rear exhaust? This way the fan will not be pulling cool air into the case and exhausting that same cool air without doing any actual cooling! I recommend covering the rear and opening up the top because you may get a slight benefit with some convection cooling along with your fan. Sticking a second fan into the top would also work.

If you do get a second S1 please do post some images especially if you go for active cooling.

Nice build. And yea, 2 S1's will be much nicer, although it might get pretty hot if they are both passive. Depending on how much room there is maybe put a 500rpm fan on the top card just to keep the air moving.
I agree with widowmaker about blocking one of the exhuasts, should see better airflow that way.
