Coolermaster XDream HS
3 x Enermax UC-FAB-B variable RPM fans (running at lowest speed)
- 1 on CPU
- 1 as intake (infront of Barracuda)
- 1 on bracket

Running Speedfan with all fans set to 5% it's pretty much silent - idle temps 35C case / 45C CPU.

Let's hope my graphics card doesn't catch fire and kill us all

i don't think you have too worry too much about a geforce 2 ti catching fire. if your really worried why hnot try mouning a low profile cooler on it?

Yes, buy a Zalman ZM-50HP for it and you can lose the bit of noise generated by the big fan you have mounted overhead.

Rather than a ZM50, the ZM17 is probably a better bet. People have mentioned to me that the ZM17 is good enough even for 4600 with a 5-7V Panaflo, and it is actually more efficient (for size/weight) than the Zalman heatpipe heatsinks because it has fewer lossy thermal transition paths. (What I mean by that is mechanical connections between different components where heat has to pass across; there's always thermal loss at such points.)

Doesn't really matter if the GF2 goes up in smoke. I'm well overdue for an upgrade anyway.

That extra fan was originally another intake, so I'm already used to any noise it makes - and it's probably quieter than it was since it's further inside the PC.

I'll have to start work on my Fisher & Paykel fridge next.
Starting to notice how noisy everything else is without the roar of my 'old' PC to cover it up.

i know my old gf2 mx had nothing on it. it was completly bare. It's now like 3 years old and is still living in my sis's computer.

How quiet is the HEC PS? Did you modify it?

It's the original HEC labled fan. And it's the loudest thing in my case (when the WDs not running anyway). I can only just hear it from where I am (PC is on the floor), but up really close it has a slightly annoying 'whoomp' sound.

Why do you have fan grills on your fans, are you poking them all of the time?

Yep. I put them on cause I was moving the fans around lots while they were running. Then I took them off. Then I put them back on. I can't hear any noise dif with/without them.

wire grills like that should not make a very big diffrence, unlike the pre-stamped grills.

I have the same Enermax fans and i positively hate them. I just went to an L1A on my CPU and it is so much quieter at the same airflow level.

Yeah I was initially very disapointed with the Enermax fans - they're too loud even at their lowest rpm. Speedfan makes them pretty much silent in my PC though (at 5%). Even with 3 of them running I can't hear them unless I get on the floor and listen closely.
