Optical Drive: LG BH10LS30 10x BD Burner (just got it today, not in yet) + LG GH40L 16x DVD Burner
Miscellaneous: Asus MIO audio card

Temps aren't great under full load in Intel Burn Test, but still within acceptable limits. WEI is great though... lol

What does this computer do besides being completely bad ass? I've never seen so many cores and such a powerful GPU used together. Are you doing some sort of odd number crunching that uses CUDA extensions?

Don't know... haven't thought that far ahead. After my previous build 5 years ago using a Cubit 3:

Nowadays, it's super underpowered with a T7200, 2GB DDR, 320GB 7200RPM 2.5" HDD, 8x DVDR and a 5450 (newest add).

Sure, it's packed with Core i7-860, 4GB DDR3, 80GB Intel X25-M G2, 500GB 7200 RPM Hitachi, Powercolor 5750 (Custom Single Slot), Samsung BD-ROM/DVD Burner but getting everything to work with a power brick and two Winmates was a PAIN!

This build was a "balance" of power and ease for me. I could've gone Corsair 800D and done EATX for a MB or smaller with a single processor, but ehhhhhh...

Any chance you could mention the model of heatsink you used? Looks like a 120mm tower Xigmatek...

My job is as a C++ software developer; we recently upgraded our desktops to 1x X5660, and they are very very fast. We've also lashed them together with distcc, and 40 such machines really powers through a build!

The only use case that would make sense to me for this system would be a desire to do both gaming, which taxes the GPU, and something like C++ development, that can use many CPU cores.

i could definitely use a rig like this. it wouldnt take too much tweaking for me to be able to max this out doing hd a/v work.

The GTX 560 is pretty good, although it's still the loudest fan in my box. The soft-mounted Samsung HD204UI's generate a little more hum than it though.

They're Xigmatek HDT-S1283's. I was going to go TRUE, but the heatpipes on the HDT-S1283 goes almost straight up without interfering with the adjacent ram slots. I always could do some coding on this, but I prefer keeping work at work, and home at home. Most likely the only time I'll tax the CPUs is when I convert videos to iPod format. We'll see...

Mostly it was that there wasn't much space free for the winmates. I could only put one along the bottom of the case (since I had 2 2.5" drives) and then I put one in the front part of the case so it wouldn't really block airflow for the tower heatsink. Then there was the Y-splitter 20-pin cables that are stiff and not very flexible that I had to route here and there and everywhere. It's a pretty quiet and nice build, but I don't know if I'd do it again (especially since that was when I cut up the GoGreen! 5750 to make it single slot).
